Swimming Pool Installation safety Tips

Swimming pools are a great investment, which not only take care to entertain but also maintain health of the people. There are a large number of accidents that occur around the swimming pools every year.

To make swimming a pleasurable and enjoyable activity, it is always necessary to ensure safety tips while installing the swimming pool itself. First of all, there should be barriers installed around the pool area so that no one falls accidentally in the water. In addition to that, the gates of the pool area should be self-latching and self-closing and children should be easily able to access the latch.

If you are planning to install a swimming pool above the ground then the ladders and steps should be locked and secured. They should also be removable so that they can be removed when the pool is not in use. Pool and door alarms are a good addition to a swimming pool so extra protection is provided to the users. Although no barriers and alarms can replace supervision, it is always wise to keep your kids under supervision. Having emergency numbers, cordless phone, first aid kits and rescue equipments near swimming pools is also a necessary part of pool safety. Instruction boards can also be placed while installing the pool, which ask the users not to run near pool, not to jump on or push others in water and not to jump or dive into the shallow water.

It is also better to have showers around the pool area so that users can have a shower before going for swimming. Restricting the size of the barrier openings and having self-latching and self-closing gates can prevent a kid from getting through the pool barrier. While installing a swimming pool, make sure that all the openings in the fence of the barrier are small so that a child cannot pass through it. A locking device should also be included in the gates of the pool and they should open out. A properly designed gate will close if a child pushes on it to enter the swimming pool area and placing release mechanism on this height will prevent a child from accessing the gate’s top and release the latch.
