Flower Market Of Manila

Dangwa Flower Market is one of the most popular places in the Philippines. Situated in the heart of Manila, this long stretch of philippines flower shop decorating the street with wide collections of flowers has now become a popular landmark known almost all over the country. The one factor that made this place popular as well as unique is that unlike shopping centers and malls, these flower shops are found in the streets, along Dos Castillas street and other parallel streets in Dimasalang, Sampaloc, Manila. The flower market is home to over 50 stalls set-up along the streets where many of today's flowers available in malls and shopping centers would usually come from that flower market. In special occasions, the streets would usually become populated with thousands of Filipinos coming from all over Manila to buy flowers. Such events are Valentine's Day, All Soul's Day, All Saint's Day, Mother's Day, and Mother Mary's Day. Although prices could reach as high as six times its original price, the Dangwa Flower Market is also known of its prices. Compared to flowers available in malls and shopping centers, prices of flowers available in Dangwa philippines flower shop could be bargained for as low as P50 Philippines Pesos on a regular day. That is one trait that Dangwa Flower Market became popular from. But other than that, Dangwa Flower Market have also been known for its achievements before it gained wide recognition around the country. The flower market was said to have started on 1976. The market was then surrounded by middle-class neighborhoods. During the 80's and the 90's, the market has surpassed the fame of competitors in Quiapo, Manila and Baclaran. It is said that the market's golden years is during the time when Imelda Marcos was the First Lady. At that time the market provided flowers for big flower shops which in turn decorated the Malacanang Palace. Additionally, the flower market was also renovated in the past to make it more like a flower market rather than just a street with different philippines flower shop. The flower market was renovated by then Manila mayor Lito Atienza. Popular highlights of the flower market are its flower-shaped lamp posts decorating the street. A signboard was also raised to acknowledge the place not only as Dos Castillas street but also as the Dangwa Flower Market, the central flower shop of Manila.
