Medieval Helmets: Glory of Knights

The collection of medieval armor is not complete without the selection of an authentic medieval helmet. Helmets made of pointed iron as well as steel in medieval age are now valued as a work of art, which at that time came in to existence as a simple box shape and evolved into the various styles. •    Roman Centurian DLX Helmet: It was a battle hardened leader, often raised from the ranks of the legion troopers themselves, or else a wealthy senator who found favor with the emperor.

•    Sutton Hoo Helmet: This medieval helmet attributes a Spangenhelm design, with face and neck guard, brass fittings and hinged cheek pieces.

In medieval period, helmets were considered as one of the most universal forms of armor offering a defensive covering for the head. They protected the face, head, neck from the cutting blows of spears, swords, arrows and other weapons that were used at that time. The Medieval period helmets were made of iron and leather to cover the entire head, with only a narrow opening in front for vision and breath.
