Retail Stores Should Stock Pet Greeting Cards

Despite the general chaos in the economy there are still plenty of people with spending money and they still love to shop. The trend is for smaller ticket items; the shopping procedure is carried out by force of habit as usual but people would rather not spend a whole lot at once. It's a perfect atmosphere for stores to move artistic gifts that are cute and amusing. The satisfaction of finding something good at a low price appeals to shoppers who can surprise a friend or relative with a great gift and fulfill the urge to buy things in their spare time.

The family pet is sometimes the center of attention to both children and parents. Many people become familiar with the pets of friends or family. Walking the dog can lead to meetings in parks with other dog lovers. In-laws and other family members tend to keep pets to conform to the group so they don't get left out of discussions about the idiosyncrasies of dogs or cats. Good-humored jokes about the pets takes on an important role in personal relationships: it saves someone else from becoming the butt of the jokes. Taking it one step further, when a friend buys a dog to match your ownership of a dog, you can send a congratulatory card of good wishes for the new family member.

Other occasions are celebrated when people exchange cards and these same occasions are marked on behalf of the pet. A cat has no idea that it's his birthday but the owner might be meticulous enough to celebrate the day just for something to do, and will go out and buy a pet birthday card with a cat cartoon to stick on the fridge for the amusement of the wife and kids. It may seem strange, but it's the symbolism of the gesture and the act of shopping that satisfies the consumer when there are not many things you can buy that are under five dollars and are still quality gifts.

There are even pet sympathy cards to express grief at the inevitable loss of a beloved pet. Just like other sad events, people like to come together and reminisce. A niche company called Three Way Pet Card Designs manufactures these along with pet anniversary cards, congratulations cards for the acquisition of a new pet, and everything you could imagine - all drawn by hand by a graphic artist rather than printed up generically. All the messages are unique and written by a professional writer.

One might think such cards would be expensive as niche items typically are, but in fact retail stores can make quite a markup since the wholesale price works out to a dollar fifty each while the retail price is only three dollars, making them easy to sell and profitable at the same time. Retailers don’t have to be pet stores necessarily – any boutique or corner store could conceivably be able to find shoppers to buy such items. As store owners know, displaying a product effectively results in more sales. This is where the card rack comes in. A greeting card rack takes up very little space and capitalizes on impulse purchases on the way to the cash register when people see a pet card display rack and these are supplied to the retail store by the pet greeting card manufacturer.

Almost everybody has a pet or knows somebody with one. What do you get for people that seem to have everything? You can get them something thoughtful to show that you're thinking of them. People appreciate the effort of dropping a card in the mail, especially if they don’t get to see you often. If your mother's dog is sick she'll be touched deeply if she receives a get-well soon pet card to make her feel better. She'll think "What a silly thing to spend money on!" with a chuckle and possibly get on the phone immediately to tell someone about it. She will also cherish the card forever; that's just the way mothers are.

Comedy movies aren't exaggerating the pain of the forty-year-old virgin getting the hair ripped from his back in a body-waxing scene.
