3 Steps to Change Impossible to Probable

It is true. Each and everyone of us, at some point in our lives, has dreamed of being somebody special. Who hasn't fantasised about being the singer on centre stage? Who hasn't dreamed of being the next famous actress? Or the next best selling author? And how many times have we imagined being rich, or successful, or living happily ever after with the person of our dreams?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams remain just that. Dreams. And our aspirations easily collect dust under our beds.

This is a sad turn of events for the majority. Instead of experiencing exciting adventures in self actualisation, we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day just barely existing. We get stuck on the treadmill that just relentlessly grinds on and on.

But you know what? Life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The most common problem to setting goals or chasing our dreams is the word 'impossible'. Most people get hung up thinking "I can't do this. It's too hard. It's too impossible. Or No one can do this."

However, if everyone had these thoughts, there would be no inventions, no innovations, and no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists were baffled when they took a look at the humble bumblebee. Theoretically, they said, it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly. Unfortunately for the bumble bee no one has told it so. So fly it does.

On the other hand, some people do dream big, with totally outrageous dreams but do not take action. The result? Broken dreams, lost faith and tattered aspirations.

If you are one who limits yourself with self-doubt, and self-limiting assumptions or beliefs, you will never be able to break past what you deem impossible. If you reach too far out into the sky without working towards your goal, you will find yourself clinging on to the impossible dream.

Here are 3 Steps to Change Impossible to Probable.

Step One: Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list down things 'you know you can do'. Under another header, write the things 'you might be able to do.' And under one more, list the things that you consider are 'impossible for you to do.'

Step Two: Now look at all your entries and strive every day to accomplish the goals that are under things 'you know you can do'. Check them off when you are able to accomplish them. As you slowly check all of your goals under that heading, try accomplishing the goals under the next header - the one that reads 'you might be able to do.'

Step Three: As all of the items you wrote under things 'I could do' are accomplished, you can move the goals that are under things that are 'impossible for you to do' to the list of things 'you might be able to do.'

Moving forward and accomplishing a variety of goals, you will become more confident, your desire will be boosted and your attitude and energy levels to pursue greater things will be elevated.

As you progress through this process, you will discover that the goals you initially thought were impossible become easier to achieve. And the impossible begin to seem probable after all.

You see, the technique here is not to limit your imagination. It is to aim high, and start working towards that goal little by little, step by step.

Be prepared to run into some setbacks along the way. Without stumbling blocks we cannot grow or stretch. When coming face to face with an obstacle, take a step back and review the situation. This course of action may need to have some adjustments made. That's okay. Revise your course of action, but maintain the forward motion. Your course to your goal may include some zigs or some zags, but as long as you are inching forward, be grateful that you are making progress.

Those who just dream towards a goal without taking the necessary action will usually end up disappointed and disillusioned.

On the other hand, if you told someone a hundred years ago that it was possible for man to be on the moon, they would laugh at you. If you had told them that you could send mail from here to the other side of the world in a few seconds, they would say you were out of your mind. But, through sheer desire, action and perseverance, these impossible dreams are now realities.

Thomas Edison once said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing could be more true. For one to accomplish his or her dreams, there has to be action and discipline. But take note that that 1% has to be a think-big dream, and not some easily accomplished one.

Ask any 'gym junkie' and he or she will tell you that there can be no gains unless you are put out of your comfort zone. Remember the saying, "No pain, no gain"? That is as true as it can be.

So dream on, and dream big! Don't get caught up with your perceived limitations. Think big and take action to attain your goals and achieve those dreams.

Imagine now being able to create your very own opus - your own symphony of success.

As you slowly but surely step up the ladder of progress, you will discover that the impossible has just become a little bit more probable.

New Year's Resolutions, Aim Low This Time Around

By: Kasan Groupe | 21/12/2009
The New Year is just around the corner which means that it’s time to start making a list of all your flaws. For some reason the arbitrary date of January 1st denotes a time of change in Western society. It’s a cruel joke that the New Year falls smack dab in the middle of winter when most of us can’t even get off the couch to clean the bathroom, let alone a complete behavioral overturn. If you have any hope of keeping your resolutions this year, you’ve got to stop being so damn ambitious.
