Goals are important. Without goals, we tend to just go through life without any enthusiasm, just going through the motions.
But how do you figure out what you want?
Sure, you may say you want to get healthier, or lose more weight, or run longer than you ever have before.
But the only way to get what you want is to get very specific.
By specific, I mean beginning with the end in mind. Get a visual of what you want, and keep that in your mind's eye. Once you have that visual of a thinner you or a faster you or a healthier you, go backwards from there.
Find out what it takes to get what you want. Research, contemplate, experiment, etc. Do something to figure out how you can achieve your vision.
Once you do that, make a step by step plan. You can call it a goal outline. This will help you figure out what exactly it will take to achieve your vision.
Now that you've done all this, you are all set to put a deadline on it. Make it a realistic deadline, something you think you can achieve, yet something that poses a challenge of some kind.
Last but not least, when writing down your goals, write them down in the present tense. Write them as if you are achieving them right now. This is a way where you can trick your subconscious mind into believing you have completed your goal. When that happens, you are more likely to achieve it than if you write it down as if it hasn't happened.

New Year's Resolutions, Aim Low This Time Around
By: Kasan Groupe | 21/12/2009The New Year is just around the corner which means that it’s time to start making a list of all your flaws. For some reason the arbitrary date of January 1st denotes a time of change in Western society. It’s a cruel joke that the New Year falls smack dab in the middle of winter when most of us can’t even get off the couch to clean the bathroom, let alone a complete behavioral overturn. If you have any hope of keeping your resolutions this year, you’ve got to stop being so damn ambitious.
