How To Focus to Ensure You Get the Results You Want Every Time

It is possible to work on many things at the same time, as long as your focus is on one task entirely. Allot a certain amount of time to one task and work on that one thing until you have achieved what you have set out to do.

Even if you take one hour and do one task per hour you can still work on many things simultaneously. Typically with 8 hours in the working day, you could be working on 8 different things but each hour is focused only on one task.

It is when you try and work on many things at the same time that it becomes inefficient and your efforts scattered. For example if you were to try and work on 8 different things all day at the same time the job you would end up doing would not be as good.

When you have something that needs doing do not allow yourself to get caught up and distracted with other things. Take the phone off the hook, put your mobile on silent mode, turn off your email – take measures to ensure any things that normally distract you cannot.

And then zero in diligently at the task that that are working on. If you are not used to working efficiently and making the best use of your time, this will feel strange at first. But the more you practice working with this focus the more natural it will become. Its s great habit to learn and will serve you well over your working life.

Soon it will become second nature to work productively. Many of us waste time busying ourselves with menial tasks, and take much longer than necessary to complete them. Tasks that are not urgent do not have to be attended to now. Prioritize your time and address them later.

Tackle the task that will bring you the most relief first. Do not do all the small ones that are easy and less important. Do the most urgent and ugliest task first. In this way you will have got the worst over with first. To begin each day completing your most hairy task will bring you a feeling of relief and calm early in your day, instead of staying late and feeling stressed out.

And then all other tasks following that will be easier and easier.  This is a wonderful work ethic if you can get yourself into the habit. By focusing in this way you will find you have plenty more time on your hands to focus on doing other things and enjoying more leisure time.
