A popular topic of conversation among people who desire success is what it takes to become successful. That makes a lot of sense and there is not a universally accepted answer. Some would contend that success is based on financial status or having certain traits. This is true and there is a spirit that defines success.
Underlying all of the traits that define success is a philanthropic good will that you will find in an astounding percentage of successful people. In short, successful people like to give back and it isn’t just to look good to their peers or to earn tax breaks. Many of the world’s most successful people like to give back and give of themselves for the simple reason that they want to see other people become more successful!
This notion is of course contrary to the notion that successful and wealthy people like to sit around in country club lounges and plot how to keep the masses suppressed. You’re more likely to find successful people delivering the message of how they became successful so that perhaps others might do the same. Why would they do this if they have already become successful?
Perhaps, they do this just to be nice. I think there’s a lot more to it than that. Many successful people realize that the path they followed is not the path that most people follow. They know that there is a better and more successful way of doing things and they genuinely would like to see others benefit from it. This is more than just being a good person; it is a genuine desire to see others achieve what they have already discovered.
Provided this is true, isn’t there a risk that extending the proverbial olive branch of success might create undue competition? You may be thinking that it would be like the king showing his subjects how to rule the kingdom. The successful just don’t see it this way.
Remember that successful people see things differently from the rest of the world. They do not fear competition because they realize that there are plenty of resources to go around and they trust their own abilities to keep them where they are.
Once you embrace the true values of success, you will also come to see things in this way. Success is a valuable thing and it is something that should always be shared! It may be harder to embrace this idea as you are pursuing success but the actions of successful people are to promote success, rather than protect it for themselves. They wish success on others and their success flows forth from this good will. You too can take this approach to your own success and the rewards will be phenomenal!
