Now keep in mind these will take practice time on the driving range and putting green. As with anything it will take time to feel natural if you haven't already been doing this. But stick with it and I will promise you that with practice you will be hitting the ball straighter and further in no time. These instructions are for right handed golfers, if you're a lefty just think opposite. So here we go...
Driver- Most golfers line up right over the top of the ball with their nose directly in line with the ball. What you should do... you really want to have the ball even with the outside of your left shoulder, and your hips tilted slightly back. This will allow you to generate more power and a proper swing plane.
Fairway Woods/Hybrids- Take it in just slightly. The ball should be positioned just about even with your left armpit.
3-6 Irons- The ball should be positioned even with your left ear
7-Wedge- The ball should be positioned even with your left cheek
Putter- This should be the only club in your bag that you position your nose directly even with the ball. You want to be looking right over the ball to get the proper alignment for your put.
Another thing to keep in mind is to have the proper distance between you and the ball. First of all, with your knees slightly bent you want to bend at hips towards the ball, not from your back. Next just take a club and lay the head down on the ground next to the ball. Your arms should swing loosely from your body. Take your left hand and grab the club. The end of the shaft should be pointing directly at your belt buckle in this position, now grab it with your right hand and assume your proper grip. This should be the position you take with every club. Obviously some clubs are longer than others therefore the angles will change and your distance away from the ball will change, but the angle of your club should change, not the angle of your body.
If you will practice these techniques, I promise you will have much more solid contact and hit through the ball on the proper swing plane. Every golf swing starts with the address position. Pracice these positioning techniques and in a short period of time you will definately be hitting the ball straighter and further than you ever have in your life. I guarantee it.

How do congenitally pronated hips impact the golf swing
By: Don | 10-07-2008
I am an avid golfer who has recently encountered great difficulty attaining the final piece of the modern golf swing, to wit: a movement of the hips away from the ball in the downswing. My question relates to a congenital deformity in my hips, they are quite pronated, giving me a "knock-kneed" appearance. Several Drs. and therapists (I have had a complete left knee replacement) have assured me the appearance is hip related and has nothing to do with my knees. I am wondering how or if this hip situation impacts the golf swing, especially the movment of the hips away from the ball through impact.
