Is Golf a Snobs Game

Author: Mick Author Ranking Blue | Posted: 09-04-2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 7 | Rating:  (69) Article Popularity - Blue (?) Got a Question? Ask.

Is golf a snobs game !.
Having taken a recent interest in the beautiful game of golf, having landed a job chauffeuring people to and for from various golf courses, I decided to visit our local golf club, I arrived at the club house with my newbie clubs and dressed to golf perfection , Trainers , jeans and nice jumper lol,Having asked at reception for the procedure for starting the course I was informed that there was a much better golf course some 10 miles away much more suited to a beginner golfer, being some what miffed at the attitude I decided to press the matter, I was then informed that my attire was wholly unsuitable ,ok ENOUGH IS ENOUGH I isn’t a hero , so I head to the supposed beginners course ten miles away, half way there I decide rather than suffer the possible snooty attitude again I would return home and go online to get some much need info on golf etiquette ,
After googling for golf forums I land on a couple of forums, right so I said to myself lets get stuck in ,assuming the people chatting on the forum would be happy to help a newbie, I posed the question of what is a good starter club set for a beginner, I was instantly met with a barrage of insults for daring to post a comment on a forum for PROPER GOLFERS !, ok I said to myself I will try another forum, This time I thought I would try a different tactic to break the ice , I commented on how much I liked Michelle wie and what she has done for the female game of golf, well I kid you not , I may as well of insulted some ones mother , one guy in particular {ALEX longtime poster} launched in to a foul tirade on my obvious lack of knowledge on the inner workings of the female game which then progresses to a seriously right wing political broadcast / rant that had zero to do with golf and more to do with this guys puffed up sense of his own importance, Alex get a life, So is golf a snobs game actually no ,golf is a great game however seems a lot of snobs out there like to think they personally own the game .Stay tuned for more as I progress from newbie to the pga world tour,
