Revise Your Golf Backswing

Some golf instruction tells how to perfect your downswing  and what you shouled do to improve your ability to position your impact. Of course, that is important, I do believe that it is just as important to know how to make the proper backswing for the backswing is where your speed and width build—two essisential elements to a stong, consistent golf awing.

The bad backswing is that the wrists aren’t hinged fully and the left arm is bent, which creates a narrow swing arc with a lack of power and control. And the left shoulder and head aren’t behind the golf ball, it is posed to make a steep, over-the-top swing with a reverse-pivot. So it is the result that high, weak slices and off-center hits happened.

We can start with the hands to exhibit the good backswing. A lot of people think that a good backswing means the hands and club are high above the body at the top. That’s a myth. A good position for the hands is one with the arms extended, the wrists fully hinged and the clubface parallel to the left forearm. This will generate a lot of width and leverage. And the body must rotate instead of lifting up and down. The proper rotation of the shoulders puts the left shoulder and head behind the ball and increases the weight distribution on the right side, which have a lot more torque in this position than in the faulty backswing.

Can you tell which is the good backswing or the bad one in the picture from the description above?
Yes, the second one is correct. So check your swing position at the top and see if you’re in a wrong way. If so, focus more on hinging the wrists and rotating the body. If you do, your weight will shift naturally and you’ll be poised at the top of your swing to make a strong downswing into the golf ball. And you are the winner in the beginning, congratulations!
