Solid Iron Shots Drills - 2 Keys to Hitting Solid Iron Shots

If your desire is to play good golf and lower your handicap, you have to have a good grasp of the fundamentals of golf. You will need a good golf swing as well. To understand what I mean by good golf swing, take as an example, any of today's top professional players as a model. Solid iron shots are the result of having a solid golf swing.

Here are two drills to help you hit solid iron shots.

1. By cultivating the technique of hitting the ball late in the downswing, you generate the power and accuracy needed to play the irons well every time. But how do you practice a movement which happens so quickly? I like to use a broom handle. Grip it with each hand separately, with the hands spaced about three inches apart.

Swing the handle, as you would a club, to waist height. Pause it there, then feel the right arm drive the handle down and through the imaginary ball. Follow through as you would with a real club.

You will also notice a whooshing sound as you whip the broom handle down and through the swing. What you are trying to do here is memorize this action so you can replicate it during your actual swing.

2. Practice hitting iron shots with both feet together. This will remind you of the role the hands and arms play in contributing to the swing. The key test is whether you lose your balance playing these shots. If you do, the body is contributing too much.

I hope these two tips help you to hit solid iron shots

Adjustable Picnic Table Plans - A Better Alternative To Fixed Picnic Tables?

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | Furniture
We live in a community where most of the children know each other, and they play together at weekends. We noticed last summer that one of the kids who came round regularly said their parents had not got an adjustable picnic table, similar to ours, so we thought we would make one for them as a present. They could use it when the weather gets warmer.

Outdoor Pergola Plans

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | Landscaping
Outdoor pergolas look good in a garden, and form an attractive and functional use as well. They are pleasing to the eye. My wife was skimming through numerous garden magazines this summer, trying to get some ideas of how she wanted our garden to look. We have a large garden, so she thought an outdoor pergola would look good somewhere in the garden, but she was not quite sure where. I agreed, and suggested we look for a set of outdoor pergola plans.

When the time comes to build a roof for your shed, there are a few options available to you. I am assuming in this article, that the shed which needs a roof is made out of wood. One which slopes from a high point on one side of the shed.

Free Large Dog House Plans - Looking For Ideas

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | Pets
Some years ago, one of our near neighbours bought a dog, and soon afterwards it became clear to me that it lived outside all year round. At the time I thought the idea of having a pet dog live outdoors was a little callous. It is a debatable point with dog owners, I know.

Wood Shed Kits - Getting More Storage Space

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | Remodeling
Wood shed kits are an ideal way to expand your storage space in the backyard. Wood is a good choice of material to use, as metal is subject to rusting and vinyl can be expensive. Vinyl also tends not to look so good as a wooden structure, in my opinion. There are a few considerations to think about before laying out your hard earned money in buying one of these.

Dog Kennel Plans - Off The Shelf Or Build it Yourself?

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | Pets
Our daughter has been nagging us or some months now about having a dog as a pet. She likes animals, and anyway, lots of her school friends have pet dogs so why shouldn't she have one? As a parent, you probably know this is the question which finally seals the deal in the kids eyes. From that point, you have to go and get yourself a dog as a pet.

Kids Picnic Table Plans - Making It Happen

By: Philip | 22/12/2009 | DIY
Me and my wife have talked about having a kids picnic table in our garden for so long now, it has almost become an embarrassment for me whenever she raises the topic in conversation. The fact is, and you might have guessed already, that I have not yet done anything about building one of these. They do not look too difficult to build from the plans I have seen, so I thought I would have a go at constructing one myself.
