Use Your Personnel Body Rhythm To Improve Your Putting Stroke and Golf Swing

Our golf swing or putting stroke is just as personnel and individualistic as the quirks we exhibit through out our lives. Our body styles have been developed through the course of our active lives which could place some bad golfing habits into the golf swing and putting stroke we believe to be so fluid.

When watching a professional swing the golf club, they have a solid foundation provided by their lower bodies; solid rotation from both the shoulders and hips; solid hand/impact timing when they make contact with the golf ball; and finish nearly perfect. Watching many amateurs as they swing their clubs, you may be lucky to see one of these good golf habits repeated. Most amateurs struggle with the hand/impact portion of the game.

By finding out what your personnel body rhythm is and synchronizing it with your golf swing or putting stroke will bring a level of consistency you can be proud of. The body rhythm we each have is defined by everything you do subconsciously every daily in a normal relaxed activity.

When you are walking, talking, eating and thinking, you have a specific rhythm that takes you through these activities. Some of us move quickly, others much slower and the remainder are somewhere in between.

If this concept is new to you, how could you find yours?

The next time you are walking along and become aware that you aren’t hurried or stressed, pay attention to the steps you take. Each step relates to a count of one, two, three, four; then repeat until you mentally have the cadence. Make a strong action to commit this to memory with some key; a song beat, a phrase or name you can relate too.

This is your body rhythm so make note of it because it can then be used to bring your golf swing or putting stroke in line with it. Once you know this rhythm and remember this cadence, go to the putting green or practice tee. Utilizing this rhythmic cadence, swing your golf club or putting stroke to melt with that cadence.

Once you are able to repeat your golf swing or putting stroke with this timing during each practice session, you’ll improve both your golf swing and putting stroke. Hitting the positions of the golf swing; starting the back stroke, at the top, rotating the left hip, contact of the golf ball and then finishing your swing, your golf stroke will be in sync.

If your swing is faster than your normal body rhythm, you will find that many of your golf shots are hooking; if your swing is slower than your normal body rhythm, then the result is a slice. This is guaranteed. So find your personnel body rhythm, then synchronize your golf swing and putting stroke with that rhythm for more consistent golfing.

Give this a conscious effort. You may find that next $5.00 Nassau game going your way.

5. I am such an idiot. At Winged Foot in 2006, Phil Mickelson had three major titles on his resume and the chance to finally land the big one that got away. Phil had suffered U.S. Open near-misses at Pinehurst, Bethpage Black and Shinnecock Hills, and all he needed was a par at the 18th to win this Open, or a bogey to force a playoff. You know the rest. It was Jean Van de Velde all over again, only with trees instead of grandstands and a water hazard.
