As an advertiser, you’d want to leave best, most lasting impression on your target consumers. Airplane messages, compared to TV coverages and radio airtimes, allow you to reach people more effectively without as much hassle.
No need for a skit
If you’re advertising on TV, you’re going to have to come up with good actors, a catchy storyline, a powerful tag phrase, and really good plays on images. Radio skits require the same amount of effort, requiring voice talents and catchy jingles. After all your efforts, you’re not even sure if 100% of the viewers or listeners will pay attention to your labors.
With airplane messages, all you really need is a memorable slogan, and a clear invitation for consumers to try out your product. Because of the standard formats of aerial banner tows, you’re also stripped of the pressure of having to outshine your competitors with cinematic she-bangs. All you really need to do is to come up with a really good catchphrase that people are going to remember after your 17 seconds or so exposure.
Brevity will most probably work for you best. Surprisingly enough, the more minimalist your approach is, the more attractive you seem to the “audience” watching you from land.
Who uses them?
Simply because airplane messages have retained their charm, a broad spectrum of clients makes use of this advertising medium. Airplane messages by sky typing or banner tows is popular with beverages, autos, new sunscreens, and other products that are still looking for their niches.
Airplane messages are also perfect for products that are only offered within certain states. Compared to TV, radio, print and online advertising mediums, aerial advertising gives a more targeted approach. After all, why pay for a broader exposure when your audience won’t be able to buy your product in the first place?
Other forms of air plane messaging, which have nothing to do directly with product advertising, include marriage proposals, and anniversary and birthday greetings. Aerial advertising thrives on simplicity. People are impressed enough that floating letters are being flown in from the sky that there’s really no need for too many fireworks.
Thinking about lead time and restrictions
You can fly aerial banners nationwide except over New York and Washington D.C. Stricter policies have been enforced in these states because of the 9/11 incident. Aerial banner tows are also not allowed to be flown over stadiums during game time with over 30,000 in attendance.
However, you can fly over other states and cities. Aerial advertising is also allowed one hour before or after a game begins, so it’s still possible to reach these crowds during the tailgate parties.
