Its been 5 years, I work as designer and 15 years being an artist. People who sits beside me while am at work say 'this is interesting!' Yes, of course, I don't know any other job that passionate me like designing. Its all about playing with colors with out paint. I have so many people who want become designers and they ask me how to become designer? Even I don't have answer. But people who want to peruse a designing career, I have few tips. The two most professions that makes eye brow a bow are 'artist' and 'designer' Though not much, but there is lot of difference between these two.
1.Artist
2.Designer
An artist does not have to adhere to any rules or requirements. Any good artist is able to convey an emotion, thought or feeling through his/her own rules. An artist is free to express themselves using their own vision. No artist will ever have to explain why they did something a certain way because they use their own passion and vision behind what they are trying to express.
Typically a Designer is given set limitations by a client. Designers combine a calculated, defined process with a client’s limitations to create fresh ideas. Any designer needs to be able to explain the reasoning and thought process behind the design.
Its easy to be a designer, and tough as hell to design something. Ask 1000 designers to design a single poster poster on 'global warming' bet me, all of them will be different and none of posters will carry same design!
There are few rules to be a successful designer.
- You are always asked to do the things which never exists
- The things you create for 1st time should match the idea in client's mind
- Its not just enough to know the designing tools/software to be a designer
- Always start a design with mind, then bring it to hands
- Never ask anyone, how the design is? look their face while they looking into design
- Never let the client/anyone to sit beside you, while you designing
- Never share the design till its completed
- If you not getting a good idea, get lost from desk/call your girlfriend/go to washroom
- There is no, not at all a good time to get an idea, it may come any moment
- Do not start a design, until you understand 'what are you designing for'?
Follow Them.
Mr. B S Rajaram, my guru, when ever i failed to meet his expectations he never said that the design is bad. He used to say 'Mahesh, after so long years I came your home and you really cooked delicious food, the chicken looks so delicious, but didnt you know that I am a vegitarian? The best way anyone can give a feedback, He meant, 'the design is too good, but doesnt serve the purpose' then I used to do something else. He never used to call the designing work as 'designing' he compared with some other work instead. It was just to make me much understood.
