Causes of Hair Loss in Women – Top Three Causes Revealed

You’ve probably heard it a hundred times, how hair loss is a men’s issue.  But for women who are experiencing it, they know that it’s a women’s issue as well.  This article is designed to provide information about the top three causes of hair loss in women.

I must admit that before I researched this topic, I also believed that this was only a male issue.  You hardly ever hear about women having balding issues even though many women are facing it.  Why do you think that is?  I think that it is because women can hide it better than men because their hair is usually long.

Well let’s begin covering the top three causes of hair loss in women.  Here they are:

1.  Androgenic Alopecia (pattern baldness)

It may be hard to believe but yes, the number one cause is the same for both men and women.  This condition is caused when testosterone is converted into DHT.  DHT then attaches to the hair follicle causing it to thin and eventually fall out.  Treatment for this condition should be able to lower DHT levels.

2.  Telogen effluvium

This condition is caused by a lot of stress usually caused by a traumatic event.  Hair will usually fall out in large amounts and this usually happens a few months after the initial shock.  No treatment is needed for Telogen effluvium because hair will usually grow back, but it will take time.

3.  Alopecia areata

This condition is classified as an autoimmune disorder.  This is because your body attacks your own hair follicles, which slows or stops hair growth.  It will usually cause patches of hair to fall out, and could even result in all of your hair falling out.  Hair will usually grow back over time, but for more serious disorders there are some treatment options available.

What’s your goal?  To start utilizing this information to figure out what is causing your problem, and then doing something about it.  All I am asking is that you take the steps necessary to improve the quality of your life.  It is my hope that this article has provided you with some information about the possible causes of hair loss in women, in hopes that it could help you improve your life.
