How to grow long hair faster
There's no scientifically proven way to grow hair faster, but there is a lot of research on what causes hair loss. The less hair you lose, the more hair you have growing to your length of choice, right? While some of the causes of hair loss can't be helped, there are several things you can do to let your hair grow up (well, down) to its potential. The hair structure is divided into two parts - the non living part that is projected out of the skin of the scalp and the other living part, that remains buried inside the scalp skin. Both hair parts have various functions to perform, besides being an integral component of the hair growth cycles. Alteration in the normal cyclical process of hair growth is one of the main causes of hair loss.
The factors that affect the normal hair growth cycle are hormonal imbalance and genetics. Though it is hard to take care of the above two factors of hair loss, it is essential for you to keep your hair clean and healthy with the use of well-formulated cleansers and conditioners. It is also important to keep in mind that just about everyone has a "terminal length" which is the longest your hair will grow based on the active growth period of your hair follicles. Nothing here can help you alter your genetically predetermined terminal length.
- To start with, one should realize that hair is made of dead protein cells, called keratin. Protein, being digested in the body, forms different amino acids. The latter can be connected in the particular combinations, producing different forms of protein in our organisms: keratin, collagen, insulin, etc. The first one is the source of our hair.
- Be nice to your hair. Your hair falls out naturally on its own, but you might be pulling it out a little faster with the things you do. The gentler you are with your hair, the less of it you'll yank out.
- Detangle your hair slowly and carefully. Start by combing out the last few inches, and gradually work up. This won't change how your hair grows, but careful combing can prevent your hair from breaking.
- Try to avoid tangles by not piling your hair on the top of your head when you lather it in the shower--when you roll it all up into a ball like that, there's more of a chance of tangling. Right before brushing, use your fingers to gently comb through your hair.
- Each hair on your head grows for 2-5 years, slows down for about six weeks, and rests for 3-5 months before falling out so a new hair can grow in its place.
- Avoid or minimize styling products or chemical treatments like dyes, tints, bleaches, straighteners, and permanent waves. These weaken your hair and increase the likelihood of breakage and loss.
- Unless you have an iron deficiency diagnosed by a doctor, you shouldn't take iron supplements. They can upset your stomach and cause severe constipation, and iron overload can be dangerous. Taking multivitamins and eating iron-rich foods is more than enough.
- As you shed weight, you shed hair. The dramatic changes that your body undergoes when it loses weight quickly can be a cause that lets you grow hair at a lesser rate. Diets low in protein and iron and also those high in protein but low in fruits and vegetables that result in dramatic weight loss can also trigger significant hair loss.
- Address any pressing health issues. Hair is a strong indicator of health. Stress is a common cause of reversible hair loss. When you experience physical or emotional turmoil, it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months for the results to show up in your hair.
10. Growing long, beautiful and healthy hair is not an extremely difficult process. Your hair growth tends to increase during warmer months.
11. Those with curly/frizzy hair will have to be patient. The texture of your hair means that length will take a while to show, it doesn't mean your hair grows slower.
12. Be sure to trim your split ends every few weeks to a month. Yes, it will make your hair slightly shorter, but if you trim the split ends, what is left will be healthier and break less. It will also look neater
It does not require the upscale hair products hawked by salons, handfuls of expensive vitamins, or any sort of sacrifice to the long hair gods. What it does take is common sense, dedication, and a lot of patience. Indeed, growing long hair is actually more a question of what you shouldn't do rather than what you should!
