Human hair wigs

Although nothing else can match your own, natural hairs, sometimes it so happens that supplements like wigs or hairpieces need to be used.  Selecting a wig however is fraught with problems. So in order to know what you need to buy, you have to know what is available. There are synthetic wigs and human hair wigs, both of which are durable and easy to wear. Human hair wigs give you a natural feel and you can do to a wig what you would do to your hair - set, style, touch up and some of them can even be re-dyed or permed. Once you have purchased human hair wigs, it is a good idea to take them to your stylist and have them shaped to best suit your face. While most wigs come styled already, just a few snips here and there can make the wig look even more beautiful and more natural on you.

Human hair-wigs can be used to cloak balding, to compensate for hair loss on account of illness, or they can be just worn as costumes and also to enhance your beauty. They come in various colors, are available in many sizes and styles. They can be used by just anybody -by people of all ages and having different body sizes. Although they are more expensive then the synthetic varieties, human hair wigs allow for a more natural appearance, whether it’s for every day use or for a stage play.

Styling Tips

  • Styling human wigs is as straight as styling your own hair, but when you use styling tools, make sure that you they have been specially made for wigs only - be it a hair dryer, a curling iron or a hot roller.
  • If you want a curly style, use your fingertips and a wire brush to bring those curls on.
  • If you want a straight style, use a wig brush or a comb especially catering to wig styling. Always begin with the ends and work your way up. At the end of each day, the wig would need brushing and touching up with irons or rollers to retain the style.
  • If you want to reduce the volume of the wig, first mist the wig with cool water and style with fingers or a styling brush. Once it dries, it will look sleeker and leaner in volume. While using sprays to hold the style, only use those, which have been made for wigs.

Another thing to remember once you have your human hair wigs is that they must be cared for. The better you care for them, the better they will continue to look and the longer they will last. However, when it comes to caring for the wig, just because it’s real hair does not mean you treat it like the hair on your head. There are things you need to do to protect your investment which will allow the wig to look good for years -

  1. When you are not wearing them, be sure to store them properly on a wig stand. As for washing them, be sure to follow any instructions that may come with them. Use proper wig shampoos and never rub the cleaner in or out -- rubbing can lead to tangling.
  2. Protect the wig from an oily appearance by keeping your own hair clean. Besides washing your own hair, you can also wear a wig cap under the wig.
  3. Clean the wigs after a dozen wearings. Use a wig pick for a curly wig or a wig brush for a straight wig. Carefully comb/brush through the tangles. If there are tangles, remove them with a wire brush or your fingers, always starting at the bottom. If there are any marks, which have been left by make up, they can be removed using a toothbrush.
  4. After using shampoo and washing the wig clean, it is essential to use a conditioner. To dry the wig, just blot it with a clean towel. Twisting or wringing is absolutely taboo. Place the wig on a wire rack to dry and it is ready to use again.
  5. Place the wig in a towel and blot gently to towel dry. Place the wig on the wig stand to air dry. If you need to wear it soon, a human hair wig can be dried with a blow dryer set on low.
  6. Comb or brush gently through the wig. Style using hot rollers or curling iron or Velcro rollers. Set with a wig spray or light hairspray.
  7. Fill a sink with lukewarm water and add wig shampoo. Soak the wig for five minutes in the soapy water. Gently squeeze out excess water. Rinse well in lukewarm water.
  8. Place the wig back in the sink. Pour shampoo in your hand and gently massage the wig. Be careful not to overdo the massage. Rinse well in lukewarm water.

Pour conditioner in your hand; the amount will depend upon the bottle’s directions. Massage it into the wig and allow standing for five minutes. Rinse well in lukewarm water. Gently squeeze out excess water. The best hair oil for hair care is Mira hair oil, this oil is known to stop hair loss and promote the growth of healthy hair. Mira hair oil does it all.
