Hair loss problem is an increasing concern worldwide for both men and women. Statistically speaking at least 60% men under the age of 40 suffer from hair loss problems. Here in this article we are going to discuss this problem and review some of the most popular herbs which can help prevent hair loss and also make hair regrow.
Amla oil, prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil, is considered a valuable hair tonic for enriching hair growth. A mixture of an equal quantity of fresh amla juice and lemon juice, used as a shampoo also stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss. Rubbing amla into the scalp directly and regularly will stop hair fall.
Why then, don’t we hear a lot more about these natural hair loss remedies? Simply because claims of cures cannot be made without FDA approval, and obtaining the FDA seal of approval involves lengthy and expensive scientific research that only major companies can afford. Even the biggest companies could not recoup the costs of such a process as no-one can control the rights to common natural substances such as basic foods and vitamins.
Using onion juice is not the only natural treatment to be used against hair loss as many other herbs are believe to have a positive affect on hair loss and retention of hair, but as with the onion juice the scientific proofs are still missing.
You can probably use items you already have on hand to try some of the more common remedies at home. First, there’s massage. Rub your scalp for just a couple of minutes a day. You can try using coconut or palm oil but, if you don’t want to get your hair greasy, you can just massage the scalp with your bare fingertips (not nails). This exercise wiull stimulate the blood flow to your hair follicles and this, in turn, will stimulate hair growth. You can also buy electric massagers from department stores.
There are available drugs to treat this problem. Drugs that are approved by FDA such as Propecia, Minoxidil, Finasteride, all have the ability to prevent testosterone from converting into dihyfrotestosterone (or DHT). However the brutal truth is that not everyone is suitable to take these drugs. For example, minoxidil has a weird and bizarre side effect. It causes the new growth to grow in unusual places such as the cheeks or even the forehead. It took years of research for the pharmaceutical companies to come up with various drugs
Saw palmetto is a well-known herbal treatment for hair loss. For it’s capacity to slow down hair loss and stimulate new hair growth. It works to block DHT, the primary reason behind most hair loss. This stops production of it in a similar way to which finasteride does, making saw palmetto an effective hair loss treatment, without the side effects associated with non-herbal hair loss treatments.
