Natural Treatment for Hair Care

Beautiful, soft, shiny hair is every woman's dream but few know how to get it. Expensive shampoos and conditioners and trips to salons would give you the desired hair but at an expense. Home products are far less expensive; give amazing results when used properly and very light on the wallet too. Besides, unlike off the shelf products, they are free of any side effects too. Our hair reflects the quality of our diet. After that, damage limitation is the order of the day. Sun, wind, pollution, drying, coloring and vigorous brushing all take their toll on the state of our hair. And we all know the result: stressed hair, dull and lifeless with no body or shine, but plenty of frizz and split ends.

Hairs spring from the skin, each having a root and a stem or shaft, which is generally rounded and varies and thickness. The chief part of the stem is of a fibrous character, the fibres being composed of soft cells with air spaces between them. The colour of the hair is due to the pigment scattered in varying amounts throughout the hair, while a white hair is produced by the formation of very numerous airspaces throughout the cells composing it. The root of the hair is set upon a fibrous papilla, from which it drives its nutriment. The root is deep and the growing part of the hair pushes the older part out through the cuticle.

Cleansing is the single most important part of hair care. For a great cleaning rinse, mix 1 cup of vinegar with a few tablespoons of dried rosemary in a microwaveable container. Heat the mixture in a microwave oven for a minute and a half. With a spoon, crush the rosemary to the side of the container to release its essence. Filter the mixture with a sieve and allow it to cool. After shampooing and rinsing, apply the mixture to hair and leave on for about two minutes. Finally, rinse the mixture with cool tap water.

For a nourishing hair conditioner, try this - heat three tbsp of coconut oil and 1/2 cup jojoba oil on low heat. Make a smooth paste with four tbsp powdered white clay and one cup water. Combine the oils and white clay paste properly. Apply it on dampened and clean hair, massaging it onto the scalp. Cover for 15 minutes and shampoo thereafter. Jojoba oil used in hair care softens the scalp skin and gives extra shine and bounce.

Greasy or oily hair will benefit from a rinse made with lemon balm, rosemary, lavender or mint. All these herbs will calm the scalp and reduce the sebum production. Learn more about natural remedy or shampoo for oily hair. Olive oil is an excellent conditioner for dry hair. Massage your hair thoroughly especially the ends and middles. Wrap a warm towel around your head for 30 minutes, as oil will penetrate the hair shaft. Then wash it using a gentle dry hair shampoo.
