Whenever there is a hair loss the dermatologist's usual hair loss treatment will be prescribing some shampoo, conditioners and drugs.
The use of a medicinal drug for treatment of any kind of human disorder is a usual one, the drugs for hair loss treatment is to be carefully chosen either for male or female. One should be more cautious in the case of females as it may be very vulnerable to females causing menopausal defects and defects in the birth of a child.
The most common medicinal drugs are Propecia, Minoxidil, Cirnagen, Trichomin, Estrogen hormone and other useful drugs. The supplements that are taken as treatment also contain any of the above drug but in a very small amount which is usually harmless. The drugs may be different for men and women or some times the dosage differs for male and female.
The most common medicinal drug is the "Propecia" and the "Avodart". These are the brand names of the drug Finasteride and Dutasteride respectively. This drug stimulates the androgenic hormone and thus causes the hair follicle stimulation resulting in hair growth. Because it stimulates androgen females cannot even touch this drug as it may even sterilize them.
For females the estrogen hormone can be used as pills as a hair loss treatment in order to stimulate the growth of hair. The estrogen hormone pills mainly used during the menopause has the effect to even feminize a male. This should be avoided by the male as it may cause adverse sexual change in the body.
Another female medicinal drug is the ketoconazole. It is an antifungal agent used in the treatment infections in the scalp caused due to fungus. With the anti-androgenic power it has, it reduces the production of testosterone and androgens by the adrenal gland and by the organs of reproduction like the testis and ovary. So, this can be used in treatment of hair loss.
Nizoral is a shampoo that contains two percent of this ketoconazole drug. It improves the scalp conditions in female and, also in combination with other drugs for androgenetic alopecia. The use of this medicinal drug is always topical. This shampoo can also prevent dandruff and even help the root of the hair to be more stronger to produce thicker hair.
Minoxidil is also used in the treatment combined with other drugs. This has a great effect in combination with other medicinal drug or with the shampoo products like the folligen or revivogen. The dosage of minoxidil is limited to two percent for female as topical treatment while for male it could be extended to five percent. But the five percent combination is yet to be approved by the FDA.
The usage of drugs in the hair loss treatment is always essential. It does not cause too much harm to the persons using it. But some of the drugs are vulnerable. The dosage that are taken is to be the carefully watched process in hair loss medication treatment. It should be always used under the dermatologist prescription.
