Easy Steps to Buying a New Computer

Technology is renewed frequently and this is evident especially in the computer machinery. Computers become obsolete in few months time and the old technology is instantly replaced with better options. You will always be shocked to hear the slashed prices of your technology just after few months of your purchase. A desktop computer has a short shelf life if not chosen wisely. You should at least plan to get a computer which can take in new technologies for the next 3 years. If not, then you can get a cheap computer and be willing to work on outdated technology.

Desktops have an edge over portable computers, as there is a wider scope for up-gradation. First step is to lookout for your requirements and know why you want a computer. Is it for gaming? Is it for animation work, or developing, basic usage, editing purpose or multi-media purpose? Though a computer can be used for all of the above requirements but specific applications run better and faster on certain configurations, thus it is important to know your purpose of purchasing a computer. Once you give a preference for a certain requirement then you can get the concerned configuration computer which best suits your needs. It should also give some scope for improvement over the next few years.

You need to research your computer configuration before narrowing down on a choice. There are expert reviews and real user reviews available from websites like naaptol.com which ensure that you get the right product. If you are on a tight budget you should avoid the expensive accessories like LCD monitor or multi-media keyboard etc and invest more in the CPU (Central Processing Unit). On the basis of the configuration you should chose the operating system. A lower RAM (Random Access Memory), of below 2 GB would not run Windows Vista properly. Thus you need to configure your computer well before selecting the operating system. As the near future with latest desktop computers would be using Vista and XP operating system will be outdated.

It is also important to get the right accessories as per your requirement. Printers and scanners are given at a discounted rate if you purchase it with your machine. So think over your needs and then make a purchase. A UPS (Un-interrupted Power Supply) is quiet necessary if your area faces regular power cuts. Even a mere 15 minutes back up on your UPS would give you ample time to save your work and shutdown your computer safely. Most computer shops provide one-year warranty on the machine and it can be extended further. Make sure you have warranty as any damage or fault can be replaced or repaired with proper expertise. Thus by little research and ensuring your needs you can get a good configured computer.
