Computer going too slow? Not able to multi task like you want to? Your pc memory, not to be confused with your pc's storage, is a great way to give your computer a boost. See how to do it here.
Instructions Things You'll Need:
- RAM that fits your computer
- Step 1
Begin by checking your motherboard information to see what the maximum supported RAM (random access memory) for your computer is. You can find this out by typing your computer or motherboard's model number into google and searching for the max amount of memory. Also, either find how many memory slots your motherboard has by looking inside of your computer or finding it the same way you found the maximum supported memory.
- Step 2
Newer computers can hold more memory, even up to 32GB and more. Older computers may max out at 2gb, 4gb, etc. After you've checked that your motherboard can support more than 2gb, 4gb, or whichever amount you want to add, look around for some ram that you wish to buy. Before you buy ram, be sure that if you plan on exceeding 3.25GB of ram, that you purchase Windows Vista 64 bit. You will also need a 64 bit processor to run this operating system, but this OS will allow you to have virtually as much memory as your motherboard can hold.
- Step 3
Now let's purchase some RAM. I prefer newegg.com, as it is much cheaper than local computer stores and you can buy sticks with more memory. Be sure that you buy ram that has the right pins as well for your motherboard. If you only have two slots, or plan on further upgrading, be sure to buy sticks with more ram per stick. For example, instead of buying 4 1gb Sticks, try to buy 2 2Gb sticks. I'm using 8GB of RAM, so I have 4 2GB sticks. Unless you're into some high end gaming or production, you won't need a rediculous amount of RAM. I would say 3GB is great for the average user, meaning that you don't need to buy the 64 bit processor or operating system.

How to See My CPU Clock Speed in Real Time
By: Viral | 14/11/2009 | HardwareThe processor (CPU) clock speed is given in hertz (Hz) and it reflects the number of cycles per second the processor performs. The CPU communicates withthe computer motherboard at much slower rate, called Front Side Bus (FSB). Modern motherboards support FSB of 400 MHz or even higher. The ratio between the CPU clock rate and the FSB rate is called a multiplier. Correspondently, CPU speed is a product of FSB and the multiplier. The increase of the FSB rate will lead to the raise of the CPU clock;
