Acne foods are those that can help prevent, control or treat the disease. Your skin relies on nutrition and therefore developing this disease may be just a sign that something is a miss on the inside. Sometimes all that your skin needs is just the right nutritional balance as well as proper care. When your body is not receiving proper nutrition, it will fight back by producing excessive sebum. The excess oils will clog the pores thereby reducing the skin’s ability to heal and fight bacteria.
Chromium is used as a weight loss diet but it is also effective in healing infections of the skin. Including a chromium supplement in your diet at least twice a day can help heal pimples and prevent any other breakouts. Another acne food is carrots. Eating carrots provide your body with beta-carotene or vitamin A which is used to strengthen the protective tissue of the skin as well as reduces sebum production. Vitamin A also helps in the maintenance and repair of body tissues including that of the skin. It is also an antioxidant that helps to rid your body of toxins.
Drinking plenty of water, at least 8 glasses a day is important. Water is essential because it is used to carry waste materials out of your body. Eating foods rich in zinc will also help keep the disease at bay. Zinc is an antibacterial agent and is a necessary element in the sebaceous glands.
Adults tend to consume more coffee as compared to teenagers. The caffeine in the coffee triggers the production of cortisol, which is sometimes referred to as the stress hormone. Stress can lead to the disease. Other acne foods are those rich in carbohydrates and low in glycemic.
