Who would ever need to engage in daily exercise and eat the right kind of diet when there are diet pills that you can simply pop and there, you get to lose your unwanted weight? The question is can diet pills really help you achieve weight loss in the same way that the combination of daily exercise and the right kind of diet does?
Let's take a closer look at how this diet pills work and then you decide.
Over the years, there are diet pills that are known to have negative side effects. Some are even associated with serious health conditions such as heart problems. There are also known incidents where diet pills are linked to a person's death.
Diet pills come in varieties. You have the prescription diet pills, the non-prescription or over-the-counter diet pills, and the herbal supplements.
Prescription diet pills as the name suggest are pills that require the prescription of the attending physician before it can be purchased. These pills are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and their use is strictly in compliance and monitored by the physician who prescribed the pills.
Over-the-counter diet pills, on the other hand, are readily available in drugstores or pharmacies and one does not need to carry a physician's prescription in order to avail of these pills. There are over-the-counter diet pills that are known to have side effects due to certain ingredients. They are still regulated by the FDA, though.
Herbal Supplements are diet pills that are regulated differently by the FDA. They are not considered as drugs but as foods. Made of all natural ingredients, herbal supplements are also easily available at drugstores and pharmacies without physician's prescription. They are considered to be generally safer than the first two varieties, with practically no side effects at all.
While diet pills may deliver weight loss results, it is important to note that most often, these results are only short-term. Further, once the body gets used to the pills, the less likely that it will deliver the same results and one may need to depend on the pills to achieve weight loss.
Diet pills should only be taken as a supplement and not a substitute for an effective weight loss program that is comprised of a combination of eating the right kind of diet and exercising regularly.
You also have to exercise some degree of caution in choosing the diet pills that you are going to take. Since herbal supplements are made of all natural ingredients, it is less risky and safer than prescription and over-the-counter pills.
Even when taking diet pills, one should continue to watch one's diet and never refrain from exercising. Any amount of diet pills will be futile in the absence of the two crucial elements in weight loss.
Be a learned weight watcher. As much as possible always increase your level of awareness in weight loss programs including the intake of diet pills. Also, don't be allured by the quick fix that any program offers. What is worth having is worth waiting for.
