Every year, thousands of people try to quit smoking. Some do it cold turkey. Others try chewing nicotine gum or wearing a nicotine patch.
A fairly new alternative to these methods is a drug called Chantix (Varenicline Tartrate), a daily pill that that activates release of 35-60% of the dopamine that nicotine normally does. Brought to market on May 11, 2006 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Chantix (called Champix in Canada Europe and abroad) is now known to do more than cause a slight high.
Chantix side effects have begun to emerge and the indications are frightening.
Side effects were brought into sharp focus when, on November 20, 2007, the (FDA) issued a statement saying that people who used the drug had experienced "suicidal thoughts and aggressive and erratic behavior".
The FDA also indicated that Chantix side effects have lead to at least 55 reported suicides, with the potential for more emerging. In response, the drug's manufacturers released black box warnings that were placed, on the product label. This was done to increase awareness of the dangers associated with the use of this drug.
Further studies of the side effects of Chantix may lead to a recall of the product.
As far as the drug's actual usefulness, results were shaky. Nearly 80% of all users relapsed within a year. It would appear that the potential benefits were not worth the associated side effects of Chantix.
If you have taken the drug, and experienced mild to sever psychological problems as a result, seek professional help, then retain the services of a qualified Chantix lawyer.
A proper lawyer is well versed in medical liability cases and can help you get the ball rolling in regards to your own Chantix lawsuit.
Keep in mind that side effects of the drug have harmed you and can affect you financially as well as mentally. You shouldn't have to pay the rising medical costs of an illness you didn't cause. Let a Chantix lawyer help you!
You can find recourse via a lawsuit with the use of a sharp lawyer.
We all know that the best way to quit smoking is to utilize a combination of behavioral modification via therapy and gradual decrease in cigarette usage. This doesn't mean that you should suffer if you chose a different route in your bid to quit smoking. File a Chantix lawsuit and gain compensation for your pain and suffering.
