Dental Problems and Dental Plans

I have had a great fear of all doctors since childhood. I am now 27 and have not gone to a dentist in the last 15 years, can you believe it? My teeth started crumbling 2 months ago, but my fear prevented me to keep mum about my problems and not disclose it to my mum who’s old now (she cannot nag even if she wants to). But eventually the pain was such that I had to arrange for a visit to the local dentist.

I had a dental insurance plan with me, but it so turned out that my mother forced me to take dental insurance 15 days ago, hence was disqualified for availing that benefit. I had this ailment for 2 months now. That made me bitter again. I changed 7 dentists before I had to give in eventually to a dentist who was reasonable enough for me. I took a local discount plan of this dentist and sat on his chair.  I had to persevere with him when I finally had him extract my teeth, but my phobia just increased with the coming days.

I could sense that repeated visits to the dentist will prove costly to me hence I browsed on the net  for some discount dental plans which offered discounts in the range of 10-60% annually on my dental expenses. I went through many of them but was unconvinced about their work and discounts that they offered. Also, though the discounts seemed pleasing , most of them didn’t have dental doctors or providers in our area. At last, I found out AmericanDiscountDental.com, which caught my attention although it sounded a little queer by name.

After I brought the  Aetna dental discount card through AmericanDiscount Dental.com, my family had 2 root canals, 2 extractions, and a 6 unit bridge in two months. I had not taken this card, it would have at least cost me about $200 for the same. I saved almost $92, because the provider and doctor I went to were part of the dental plan. I had a queer fear to about docs, but as I was saving money in the process, all my fear vanished into thin air. I know this is surprising, but I don’t know till this day what happened then. I got rid of my malady and my fear.

So for all my fellow dental phobics...don’t opt for dental insurance please, please find yourself a discount dental plan. Dental insurance has a lot of problems for qualification. I would never have let my teeth get so bad in the first place, but better late than never. Don’t let your phobia make your condition worse! Get a lucrative dental plans and avail a discount and also in a timely manner.
