Detoxification: When Do You Need A Body Detox?

How do you know if you need a body detox?

Maybe you have tried a body cleansing before and think you are ready to try another one. Your body may be giving you one or more of the following signs:

- Excess Weight
- Protruding belly ("pooch")
- Powerful food cravings
- Impaired digestion
- Chronic constipation
- Flatulence, gas and bloating
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Hemorrhoids
- Candida infection
- Parasites in stool
- Foul-smelling stools
- Frequent fatigue and low energy levels
- Food allergies
- Irritability, mood swings
- Bad breath
- Frequent colds
- Recurring headaches
- Skin problems such as frequent rashes
- Metallic taste in mouth

Internal cleansing can help remove these symptoms.

Of course it is always better to keep your body as healthy as possible in between cleansing and avoid the harmful substances that you put into your body to begin with. The cleaner you keep your body in between detoxes, the longer you can go without one. However, even if you try to avoid these, you will still need a detox again at some point. Toxins will still build up in your body over time.

When you start to feel any of the above listed symptoms and it has been awhile since your last detox, it may be time for you to repeat it.

There is not necessarily a set time in which you should always detoxify, such as every six months. Your body is not like a car, and you cannot go by the mileage.

You may find that once your body gets used to a detoxification periodically, it will come to expect it. For example, let's say you have been cleansing once a month and then one month you skip it. Chances are, your symptoms will start to return, and you will know that it is time to do a body detox again.

Having a regular routine can help you make time to fit it into your schedule and avoid missing it. Plan your detox for a time when you will be able to get the most benefit from it.

More and more people are including the use of a sauna as part of their ongoing detoxification routine. Recent evidence points to the effectiveness of a sauna to cleanse the body from the inside out. The nice thing about uing a sauna for detoxification is the ease and enjoyment that comes along with it. In fact it can be a "twofor" since the relaxation factor can cleanse your body as well as your mental state.

By: Kirsten Plotkin | 11/11/2009
I look around today, on the street and in the mall and I fear for the future. Roughly four out of every six people I pass are overweight. It is said by obesity america 2008, that in 1980, the national average of obese adults was 15 percent. Prior to that time it would not have been a large enough problem to need statistics.
