Did You Know You Can Improve Your Health Through Reverse Osmosis?

First off, do you know what reverse osmosis is? This process revolves around the movement of water through a membrane. The membrane contains microscopic holes that allow the water through but nothing else. A charge is used on most systems to reject any other items such as contaminants from passing through the membrane.

The levels can be set to the desired level to keep everything out except the water. If they are too low, other elements can get through and the water is not correctly treated. Sometimes water contains many elements that have to be removed to make the water safe for human consumption.

For optimum health everybody needs clean purified water. Now you must be wondering what reverse osmosis has to do with water purification?

Reverse osmosis helps your water to taste better than distilled or other bottled waters. It takes out the contaminants or reduces them to the point that they are not a problem. Most systems, depending upon the type you purchase will reduce over 96% of dissolved solids, over 99% of dissolved lead, over 99% of dissolved arsenic, and gets rid of chlorine taste and smell.

Distilled water often tastes flat because the process that it goes through takes oxygen out of the water. Distillers can also be expensive. Electric to run these alone can add up to over $200 per year.

There are home reverse osmosis systems for every budget. From residential systems that are very expensive to a four-stage portable countertop model that retails for around $200. The expensive models operate on a four-stage system with the following:

Stage 1 - A prefiltration reduces rust and particles from the water and protects the membrane of the purifier.
Stage 2 - Contains a carbon block that reduces bad taste, odors, chlorine, and organic materials that may be impure.
Stage 3 - This is the part that uses the membrane to filter out any dissolved solids and heavy metals.
Stage 4 - A carbon filter goes in the line and gets rid of bad tastes or smells.

The four stage portable works on the same premise, just on a smaller level. Another manufacturer of reverse osmosis water purification systems is Ampac. They boast of the high quality while remaining the most economic of any system.

The best home water systems are one more that guarantees they can make your water safer to drink. They know that well water can be full of contaminants that can affect your water taste and performance. Even water systems that have been treated still can contain bacteria, viruses, and protozoa, to name a few. They will test your water free and send you a report that tells you what is in the water you drink.

Several companies will do this free of charge because water that appears cloudy or tastes or smells funny is sure to contain some type of contaminant. However, there are many times that you will only know exactly what is in the water by having it tested.

No matter the size of your home or office, there are reverse osmosis systems that you can use and actually carry with you to remove contaminants from the water you drink.
