For many centuries herbs were used by tribes and some cultures around the world and are becoming more and more popular as a natural way of treating constipation. Herbs such as Aloe Vera, Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale) and the Passiflora Species are ones which have laxative properties and also help the digestive system as well as acting as a tonic for a person's liver. These herbs can often be used in treating both chronic and occasional bouts of constipation and almost all of them have no side effects associated with them.
You can buy these herbs in tablet form as well and each tablet contains a definite amount of the fresh herb within them. I was on Benicar HCT 20/12.5 for three years until I recently started having leg cramps (calf). I reported this to my doc and she changed me on a trial basis to Benicar 40 mg. I have worked hard this year to lose weight--and have lost 10 pounds--with the goal of eventually getting off BP meds altogether. The 40 mg in just three days gave me dizziness and a headache that stayed with me all day. So my question is: if my goal is to eventually get off BP meds, shouldn't I stick with the lighter dosage (20 mg) without the diurectic instead of going up? maxmitch2002@yahoo.com Thanks.
