Cases of autism are very widely spread in children. As a mater a fact it greatly surpasses any other child diseases like diabetes and the Down syndrome. Studies made on a wide number of countries and people have come up with some startling numbers; some 5 children in 1000 have autism, the most common age being 3 to 5 years old. As in the case of many other illnesses and diseases, the sooner the symptoms are diagnosed of making part of this particular disorder action must be taken if chances of treating the disease exist. Family members, teachers or day care providers should never underestimate the symptoms that the child is showing thinking that what they see is not a problem. The fact is, as presented earlier, that diagnosing the disease at its earliest greatly increases the chances of good results being seen after the treatment.

Problems do exist in autistic children and after a certain period they become very visible. Social interaction in autistic patients is very difficult not to mention the verbal or nonverbal communication that is needed in order to make your self understood. Repetitive behaviors and interests also pose a problem in the life of the persons suffering from this disorder. Their perception of things around them might be different than ours fact witch interacts with the normal activities that they do. In their mind certain sounds or objects might not at all seem what they actually are. The mind of an autistic person is actually very strange: they might be very well capable of learning how to read, to right and also do other very complex things, but just integrating properly in to society poses a serious challenge for them. These symptoms that appear on children may of course vary from case to case, depending on a lot of factors.

Unfortunate for them symptoms may sometimes be noticed to late, although some signs might be present even after birth. They will start lagging behind normal children their same age, presenting more increasing signs of not being able to integrate properly with others. Parents have observed that most often the change in the behavior of their child is sudden, this way the small one starting to reject objects people and interaction with people.

Parents must look after a number of symptoms that may indicate the presence of autism. If the baby does not show normal signs of starting to develop like babbling, pointing or making gestures, starting to speak at least a couple of words by 16 month and afterwards starting composing sentences and not responding to his birth name parents should start getting worried and must take in this case immediate action.
