Doctors think that many things combine to cause HBP. Being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, and eating too much salt are risk factors because they raise your risk of having HBP. Doctors established a long time ago that happy and humorous people don’t fall sick; they don’t suffer high blood pressure and other debilitating ailments, just because they choose to be happy. You would agree that’s not such a difficult decision to make. Doctors often suggest you to decrease salt intake, as sodium can increase blood pressure. But this is an advantage for people with low blood pressure.
Normal values of systolic over diastolic in an adult is 130/85 and a reading which shows 140/85-89 is considered normal high. There is however two important aspects when the normalcy of a reading is to be considered. Normal function of adrenal medulla is to produce epinephrine or adrenaline. Which is responsible for controlling blood pressure and to help cope with stressful situations. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80; blood pressure between 120/80 and 139/89 is called ?pre-hypertension?, and a blood pressure of 140/90 or above is considered high blood pressure. The systolic blood pressure, which is the top number, represents the pressure in the arteries as the heart contracts and pumps blood into the arteries.
Hypertension causes your heart to work much harder than it should because it has to compensate for the increased blood pressure. Like any muscle that increases in size with use, the heart increases in size. .
Hypertensive retinopathy can cause the blood vessels of the retina to become damaged and can cause narrowing of the blood vessels. Oftentimes fluid will ooze from the blood vessels causing you to experience eye symptoms of high blood pressure. Hypertension is a modern day epidemic, with the number people being diagnosed increasing year on year. Approximately 1% of those that are considered as hypertentive (have high blood pressure) are also at a risk of suffering with malignant hypertension.
Hypertension is known as a ’silent killer’ and may show no apparent health problems. Thus, it is essential to regularly get it checked and keep a close watch on it. Hypertension is a name for high blood pressure. Having high blood pressure puts you at risk for heart disease or even strokes.
Exercise, a cigarette, a sudden burst of anger: All of these can raise our normal blood pressure readings, but they don’t raise our blood pressure to dangerous levels for long periods of time. In the absence of high blood pressure symptoms, hypertension is diagnosed based on several blood pressure readings taken over a period of time.
Headaches (more than normal). This is because not enough oxygen is being able to gain access to your brain through the blood being pumped around your body. Headaches, nosebleeds, and dizziness are also common warning signs and symptoms of high blood pressure, but these do not occur until high blood pressure has reached a more advanced stage. However, many people even with the highest blood pressure readings do not feel any of these symptoms.
Regular exercise improves and expands the circulatory system, reducing blood pressure. Just plain walking would be my favorite. Exercise at least five times a week, for at least thirty minutes at a time. This will go a long way in helping you loose weight and reduce high blood pressure.
