Staying in shape in winter is definitely hard. If you have spent all year long trying to shave off those extra pounds don’t quit now because here are some top tips on how to stay in shape during the winter.
First of all you need to know that cold makes you hungry. So you should try to keep warm either by avoiding staying outside for long periods of time or by putting on an extra layer of clothes. If you decide to go for a swim make sure the pool is properly heated or you might end up eating much more than you should afterwards and your body will try to accumulate fat because it will believe it is subjected to effort and being deprived of resources in the same time.
Cardio is your friend. Sometimes it’s hard to switch from running in the park to running on a treadmill but those extra pounds will come back with a vengeance unless you manage to pull at least 30 minutes of cardio twice a week.
Weight training is not a must but it’s good for keeping your muscles in good condition and for improving your looks. Other than that you should try avoiding junk food, fizzy drinks and eat fresh fruit and vegetables instead.
You should keep in mind that losing weight is a process that takes time and a lot of determination but the results are well worth the effort. That is why you shouldn’t become lazy in winter. Don’t let the pounds accumulate and keep in mind that you want to look good for the summer.
