The sale of Hoodia Gordonii is big business, especially on the internet. So much so that along with the few suppliers of pure South African Hoodia, there are a hundreds, if not thousands of sellers of 'fake' Hoodia. These unethical suppliers don't really care about the quality of the product they sell, even thought they know their product doesn't work. This article will help you to stay clear of them.

Before we get into how you can separate them, you must first understand a little background about the Hoodia phenomenon.

This humble little cactus-like plant, found mainly in the Kalahari Desert of South Africa, has become all the rage in the fight against fat in just the last few years. That is really important because it is your hypothalamus that regulates how hungry you feel. When it is stimulated, the hypothalamus sends signals to your brain telling it that you are full. And that is the magic of Hoodia. You feel full, even though you haven't had anything to eat.

We also now know that the reason why pure Hoodia is able to stimulate your hypothalamus in this way is all because of one molecule, the P57 molecule. This one molecule is the absolute key to making Hoodia work to help you lose weight. If you take Hoodia without this molecule, or if this molecule is inactive in your Hoodia, you're not going to enjoy any weight loss benefits.

So when you are thinking about buying Hoodia, you need to make sure that the version you're thinking of buying includes the active P57 molecule.

How can you possibly tell if a supplier has this molecule included in their Hoodia?

It is very difficult, unless you know exactly what to look for. Because of Hoodia's popularity there are seemingly hundreds of suppliers of Hoodia. Most of these suppliers are nothing but internet opportunists who are looking to cash in on the huge demand for Hoodia, even if their product is not the real deal, and doesn't include the P57 molecule.

What you should first do when you are trying to decide if a supplier is selling pure Hoodia is weed out some of the obviously suspicious ones. Here are three ways you can do that:

1. If a company has a certificate from testing their product just at one time, then you should pass on the supplier. You want to see certificates from a tester that tests the supplier regularly, and anonymously. So just having a one test certificate is not enough. This one criteria will weed out most of the suppliers on the internet.

2. If the supplier only has testimonials from your 'average' person, you should also be suspicious. You want at least one or two testimonials from experts who are putting their reputation on the line by giving this supplier their recommendation. A supplier is more likely to be selling pure Hoodia Gordonii with the active P57 molecule if other experts are backing them up.

3. If the supplier makes no mention of the P57 molecule then you should not even think about ordering. Many companies try and hype up their product with slick websites and marketing campaigns. You need to look beyond that and look for substance in the actual product.
