The usual approach to hair loss is quite simple: people find that they're losing their hair and run to the nearest drug store for some miracle tonic that claims that it's capable of restoring vibrant, new hair. While this approach is often the easiest, it's not always the most effective.
And when something is not effective, it usually turns out to be the most expensive approach of all. It becomes expensive because people have to continually buy newer replacements for so-called remedies that don't work at all.
What's In a Wig?
Sometimes people choose to hide the baldness by using wigs. Wigs have had a long, illustrious career in Western history. Magistrates from England have been known to wear such wigs, and even barristers from the United States have worn such on certain occasions.
A wig as you may already know is a synthetic hairpiece that's used to cover the hair as a replacement for hair. Some wigs require you to place a thin, translucent net over your remaining hair so the wig would fit quite snugly. Some wigs have spacious insides, so your natural hair would still fit snugly and would even have some breathing space.
Wigs are a common hair replacement option. It's literally a one-time investment, as a quality wig can last a lifetime if taken care of properly. If you wash your wig well and take care of the seams and sides, your wig can remain in its pristine condition for decades, especially if you're investing in an expensive wig made with the finest materials.
Why are Wigs Popular?
One of the main uses of wigs (aside from improving the appearance of relatively healthy people) is to make sure those patients that are undergoing chemotherapy treatments won't have to deal with the consequences of massive hair fall.
Since chemo patients lose all their hair, a wig can disguise this fact, and they if they're strong enough, they can move around their everyday world without worrying about their hair.
Some people choose wigs because it's a lifetime formula for hair success. No more haircuts, no more messy meetings with the barber shop or the salon as this is a fixed hair style for the rest of their life.
How Much is a Wig?
You can get a quality wig for about a hundred dollars. Any more than this, you'd be getting pristine materials that would be durable and resistant to heat and cold. It's a common fact that custom-designed wigs cost around $2,500 to $3,000 per wig. Of course, you can still go beyond this price ranged. Some companies are offering organic wigs for more than $5,000 per wig.
Another thing you have to realize about wigs is that you have to maintain the wigs as well. For maintenance, you have to bring the wig to the company you bought it from and have them clean and reinforce the material. These processes are not cheap, and will never come cheap.
These are the basic considerations you have to take note of when you want a wig as your hair replacement option.
