It is important to have regular eye checkups. A child needs to have an eye test to early diagnose possible eye problems which can affect learning and development. You are qualified for a free eye test in UK if you meet any of the following requirements:
1. If you are under the age of 16, then you are qualified for a free eye test in UK. If you are 16, 17 or 18 years of age, you can still be qualified for a complete eye test if you are a full time student.
2. You can qualify for free eye tests in UK if you are aged 60 years or above. Senior citizens get these health benefit as part of state health service.
3. Free eye tests and regular checks can also be use by those who are registered blind or those who are partially sighted.
4. If you are diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma – diseases which can highly damage the eyes- then you can avail of the free UK eye tests.
5. If you are over the age of 40 and if you have a first degree relative who has glaucoma, or if you have been advised by an ophthalmologist that you are facing the risk of glaucoma, then you can also avail of the UK free eye tests.
6. If you are a regular citizen who has been prescribed with special lenses such as bifocal or powerful lenses, then you can also make use of the free UK tests.
7. You, as well as your partner and children, can also claim for partial or total support for sight tests, contact lenses or glasses if you are under the NHS Low Income Scheme.
8. If you receive certain benefits such as the Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, Income Support, or Income based Job seeker's Allowance, or if named on a Tax Credit NHS Exemption Certificate, then you can also avail of free <a onClick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/article_exit_link');" href="http://www.eye-tests.org">eye exam</a> or sight tests.
