How Weight Increase Affects HBP and Cholesterol

Every single part of our body compliments each other in order to perform one bodily function perfectly or as it may seem. If one of those body parts become erratic and malfunctions, all other body parts that has direct connection with it could break down as well, and the domino effect continues. This phenomenon would continue until such time that all our body parts would stop corresponding with each other and eventually stops functioning altogether. When this happens, your happy days on earth were over.

When our blood shows a higher pressure than it normally has, there is always a reason for that. Our blood is assumed to have a stable pressure in all conditions unless there is something that disrupts its normal functioning. The instance wherein the blood would exert an extra pressure more than its normal value is called high blood pressure. It is a condition that triggers millions of deaths every year in all parts of the globe.

Weight Gain and HBP

Research shows that gaining weight, aside from other factors is one of the most primary causes of HBP. When a person gains weight, it means that fats in our body also accumulated more than its normal value. Fatty tissues in our body are not bad at all because it has many uses. Our body uses it as insulation from too much cold especially for the babies and the women. The mammary gland of women were mostly composed of fats as well, thus, fats are essential to our body, within its normal value, of course.

Here is what happens when weight gain reaches an unusual level:

  • Having too much fat can increase our chances of having HBP due to an increased cholesterol level in addition. Fats and cholesterol build up always go hand in hand and when these two elements in our body shoot up above its normal level, the danger is so overwhelming.
  • Cholesterol is the number one artery blocker. When our body had already accumulated too much cholesterol our natural body heat that normally eliminates or burns cholesterol cannot get rid enough of it anymore. Most of those unburned or unprocessed cholesterol find their way to our arteries and gradually build up there forming a blockade.
  • Since our arteries, that acts as a major pathway of our blood to be distributed to all parts of our body is now blocked, our blood will have a hard time passing those pathways and what it does is to exert more effort while passing those blocked pathways. The result of the blood's extra effort that is triggered by the heart's strong pumping can cause a significant rise in our blood's pressure, thus resulting in a condition identified as high blood pressure.

Having this condition is very life-threatening in any ways because it does not always carry a visible symptom. More often than not, it just suddenly strikes before it can be diagnosed. People who does have a history of high blood pressure in the past or either in their family should have their blood pressure checked at least twice a year to have a closer monitoring scheme on their blood pressure levels.
