Is Tap Water Really Dangerous—Find Out Just How Deadly It Can Be

Posted: Feb 24, 2009 | Comments: 0 | Views: 100 | Bookmark and Share

Let's face it, we all know that our water isn't what it should be but is tap water really dangerous? The truth is truly a disturbing one.

To get the big picture we need to realize that in these days of mass consumption, more and more chemicals are being created and used. Agriculture sprays pesticides and gives large quantities of drugs to the livestock to make them grow quicker, and these all find their way into the water table.

So why is tap water really dangerous, because it contains over 2100 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer and a far worrying trend is now emerging, pharmaceuticals in the supply. These include mood stabilizers, antibiotics and growth hormones that we use, and the part of them that is not metabolized is flushed away to be treated.

There has been a dramatic increase in the variety and quantity of these drugs being found, and it is escalating all the time.

Our treatment plants are not equipped to deal with this 21st century threat, they still use chlorine, a toxic chemical itself, to disinfect the water. The alarming amount of contaminants found in the average glass of water shows how badly they are failing, toxic levels of chlorine being among them.

Experts agree that tens of thousands of deaths every year are down to our water supply. Not pretty reading at all.

So you see, that the answer to is tap water really dangerous is a resounding yes, and, unbelievably, getting worse.

The only solution is some kind of home filtration. It's up to us now (no surprise there then!), but we must choose carefully.

Look for one that has multi-stage filtration using an activated carbon filter and ion exchange to remove 99% of all contaminants, including the pharmaceuticals, but also leaves in the vital minerals we need which the old technology systems like reverse osmosis, strip out.

If in doubt, ask for the supplier's performance data sheet to see exactly what it removes.

Now that you know the answer to is tap water really dangerous, it is up to you to take action and help to safeguard your health for the present and the future, or who knows what they will find next.

The Atkins and South Beach diets are two very popular and remarkably similar diets that focus on low carbohydrate intake. Both diets were developed by medical doctors who wanted to get away from the opinion generally prevalent, that fats in the diet were primarily to blame for obesity, which was, and still is, a major problem in the population.

Reducing your daily calorie input from the food you eat is a well known strategy based on the scientific principle that the amount of calories you consume each day should be no more than the amount you use each day, rather they should be less. If you consistently take in slightly less calories than you expend then you should gradually shed weight as your body uses its reserves.

If you have previously tried to lose weight and failed why was that? Was it perhaps that you didn’t really feel motivated enough and your initial enthusiasm began to wane after a couple of weeks when it seemed you had achieved only a disappointingly small amount of weight loss? Was it perhaps that you found your chosen diet too difficult or too time consuming to follow?

If you are one of the many people trying to lose weight, have been dieting for a few weeks, but seen no apparent weight loss, it could be due, in part at least, to hidden calories. If you are on a proper, healthy diet, then you can expect it to take a few weeks before any noticeable difference occurs. Your weight can vary by up a couple of pounds from week to week anyway depending on various factors such as hormones, so until you are confident that you have lost 3-4 pounds you will not be happy.

Fad diets and crash diets, such as the cabbage soup diet and Hollywood diet, are not only unhealthy but also tend to result in rebound weight gain. In other words, the weight you have lost is soon regained, either because the weight loss was mainly water, soon inevitably restored by the body, or because you cannot keep up a severely restrictive food diet for ever, or even for very long.
