Losing weight fast can be obtained but it does not start with fad diets, why are they bad?
Fad diets come and go with popularity. A fad diet comes in many forms from severe dietary restriction, to pills or other potions. Fad diets usually restrict one group over another or contain no solid food at all. Liquid diets promote losing weight fast, but can they be notionally sound?
The only reason someone should be on a liquid diet is when a physician prescribes it. Many gastrointestinal diagnostic tests require a person to be on a liquid diet for a short duration. Certainly, a person with a broken jaw could eat nothing but liquids. There may be other dental reasons when someone is placed on a liquid diet for a short term. These diets are short term and medically managed.
There is a distinction between a clear liquid and a full liquid diet. Clear liquid diets include foods you can literally see through or turn into clear liquid once melted, some of these include: jell, popsicles, apple juice, broth, grapefruit juice and water. A full liquid diet includes the above plus dairy products, shakes, creamy soups, cereals and pudding. These diets are generally used under medical supervision for diagnostic testing or for recovery from surgery.
There are liquid diet programs on the market that proclaim they are nutritionally sound, healthy, can take weight off fast and help you develop a new healthy relationship with food. You could lose weight quickly on a liquid diet but skepticism remains. The diet will probably not deliver all its promises.
One summational liquid diet claims to be physician recommended. This diet contains calorie restriction, high protein, low fat and low carbs. It turns out the doctor only recommends it for medical purposes. Everyone should stay away from fad diets, but especially people who have diabetes, heart disease or other medical problems.
This is a primary example of a fad diet, restricting solid food for liquid concoctions. This type of diet has a high drop out rate. It would become pretty boring eating soups, juice and shakes for every all day. Again, the only valid reason to go on this type if diet is because your doctor has prescribed it for you.
Most liquid diets are not just liquid. Some of them use replacement shakes for two meals and allow a small dinner. One of these liquid formula diets was recently taken off the market because of its side effects. It is e dangerous to place your hope of losing weight fast on a liquid diet. Some of these diet products can cause headaches, stomach aches and other gastrointestinal side effects.
You can damage your metabolism with fad diets like these. Your metabolism will slow down when it does not get many calories. When you return to your normal diet, your weight will return quickly because your metabolism is sluggish.
Side effects of a high protein liquid diet include constipation, low blood pressure, and calcium imbalance. People that need to lose a substantial amount of weight stay on these fad diets way too long and that can cause severe nutritional deficiencies. According to (APA) American Psychological Society, when people lose five to ten percent of their weight in the first few months, they will gain two thirds and more of it back within four to five years.
When you choose a diet plan you want the weight loss to be permanent. The only this will happen is to go on a well balanced diet with no less that 1200 calories a day and incorporate exercise in to you lifestyle. Losing weight gradually and eating well will make you feel so good that you will want to maintain these habits for life.
