Lowering Cholesterol – Natural Ways To Reduce Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in all animal tissue, including humans, and is found in all foods that come from animal sources. The highest sources of dietary cholesterol come from egg yolks and organ meats such as the liver or kidneys.

There are many natural ingredients that can help reduce cholesterol levels and thus reduce the risk of various diseases associated with elevated cholesterol: arteriosclerosis, heart disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus, kidney failure, etc. However, until recently medical scientists believed that diet alone couldn’t substantially reduce cholesterol levels in persons confronted with high cholesterol problems.

Try eating one-half cup of cooked dry beans every day to help lower total cholesterol levels. An Agricultural Research Service study in North Dakota added to the already growing body of evidence that beans are healthy for the heart. The Agriculture Research Service is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's main scientific research agency. Lead authors for the study in North Dakota were chemist Philip Reeves and nutritionist John Finley. The study was conducted at the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Garlic and fish oil are two natural items you can take to improve your overall heart health. Garlic seems to have properties that help reduce the build up of arteriosclerosis. Fish oil contains helpful fats that lower cholesterol, particularly in women and also help prevent blood clots. For those who do not take much garlic and fish in their natural diet, these substances can be taken in capsule form.

Taking certain nutritional supplements is another of the natural ways to lower cholesterol. They are not medications, but naturally occurring substances that are already present in your body or substances you should receive by eating certain foods. For instance, OC MAX is said to reduce cholesterol levels using the enzyme Serratia E15 silkworm. Serrazyme is said to be a powerful tool in not only lowering LDL cholesterol levels but it also helps in the fight against heart disease.

One of the most well known low cholesterol foods is oatmeal. If you are looking for a food which is not only tasty, but that will also give you a jumpstart in the morning, then oatmeal is a great choice for you. It contains something called beta-glucan, which is well known for reducing cholesterol levels, and eating oats increases the soluble fiber in your diet, which is also important.

Exercise is a vital component for healthy living. Exercise stimulates your metabolism and helps you to lower cholesterol naturally. Blood, along with the oxygen and nutrients that it carries, is delivered more efficiently. Your heart, a muscle itself, becomes stronger and better able to perform its never-ending duties. Your perspiration increases and helps you to flush out toxic buildups inside of you. Your probability for development of every disease is lessened significantly. You will look, feel, think and act better with daily exercise.
