Make Every Day Independence Day With Mobility Equipment

When we think of mobility equipment we tend to think of the standard items, you know the ones, wheelchairs, zimmer frames, inflatable cushions, and perhaps waterproof protection for beds. This is a really very old fashioned idea of what is available. A visit today to a mobility shop will be incredibly informative. You can shop online or in person. There is such a lot on the market that it is really mind-boggling, it's about time too.

Bathing and Toileting are a perennial problem. How to give someone their independence, privacy and ease of use, whilst remaining safe in the home? From bath boards which clip on top of the bath to bath lifts which lower you down into the warm water, there are many products which make this such an easy process today. When buying a bath lift make sure that the one you purchase will carry your weight easily, that it has a safety position if the battery is running low which will lift you out of the water and not leave you stranded.

You want one that is light and easy to dismantle for those times when visitors come to stay, and you want a good guarantee. Look for a minimum of 3 years, preferably 5. The Dentler bath lift offers all of the above and more. Mobility equipment includes bath steps, bath rails and of course, all the items to help with showering as well. Raised toilet seats are essential for someone with knee problems and especially for those who have just had a hip operation. Some commodes are beautifully made and in wicker basket style look lovely in any bedroom.

When it comes to mobility equipment perhaps we should all look far south, our feet! Just the things to keep us mobile, but do we think of them often enough. Swollen and painful feet are a major problem for those not quite so mobile as the rest of us. Cosyfeet have shoes and slippers available in all sizes and colours which look like everyday shoes. With buckles and laces as a choice they all have Velcro fastenings out of sight which make putting your shoes and slippers on so much easier. Large openings mean that even bandaged feet can be slipped into a bit of warmth and comfort.

In the home there is such an abundance of smaller items to buy from kettle tippers to specially shaped cutlery. From jar and tin openers to shaped plates, bowls, cups, mugs. Soft bottomed bean bag trays to overbed or overchair tables. Handi reachers with jaws to pick up all sorts and magnets for that needle or pin which has dropped. Tap turners and easy-pull plugs. Key turners and sock/stocking aids. I could go on and on listing mobility items which make every day living so much easier and also make perfect gifts for birthdays or Christmas.

Mobility products have certainly come a long way and it was about time that manufacturers put some thought into the design and functionality of their products. For a long time now these items have looked decidedly 'hospital-like' and not what anyone would want to have in their home but with the array of designs and colours available today, mobility products don't look medical in the slightest.
