Chlamydia- how does it spread?
Bacteria cause chlamydia. The bacteria can pass from the mucous membrane fluids to another person. If your mucous membrane comes in touch with infected mucous membrane, you may get Chlamydia. What is mucous membrane? The soft skin lining that you find in your mouth, on your genitals and inside the genitals and anus. Any sexual activity that brings you in contact with infected mucous membrane will transmit Chlamydia.
Chlamydia- what about oral sex?
It is believed that if mouth to vagina r mouth to penis contact is made, it is difficult to get Chlamydia, but not impossible. It applies to penis to mouth and vagina to mouth contact. It is rare but not impossible. Common transmission takes place through unprotected vaginal or anal sex.
Chlamydia- symptoms
In men, the symptoms may be- burning pain during urination, discharge from genitals, swollen testicles or pain in testicles, etc. In women, symptoms may include- burning during urination, discharge from vagina, lower back or abdominal pain, pain during sexual contact, and bleeding between the menstrual cycles. Most of the women do not show any symptoms. Also about half of the affected men do not show any symptoms.
