Every individual is different and so is their body composition. It is essential to understand this before talking about any form of treatment. Pain is universal; felt by one and all, the only difference is how each of us reacts to it. When we touch a hot vessel, some might flinch, while others might just ignore it. Age, body condition, overall health are some factors that help us understand how deep pain is and what sort of medication or treatment to follow for pain relief.

There are many ways of achieving pain relief without taking pills. Since many of us are wary of those little multi colored capsules, these alternatives will be useful:

1. Acupuncture
The Chinese form of medicine that uses needles to relieve pain and ailments is called acupuncture. Known to cure any kind of ailment, in this the patient's body is analyzed by the expert and then treatment is carried out. Needles are placed on the body, at certain specific points, which are said to reach deep within our body and clear the toxins present. The Chinese believe that all our illnesses are related to different organs, and so they concentrate on curing the organ to provide pain relief and cure.

2. Physical Therapy
When a patient is taught how to deal with pain on a day to day basis, it will help them get through it and come out smiling. Physical therapy or physio therapy is given to people who have been through a major accident or surgery. If a person has fractured their hand, there is bound to be pain for weeks. Through this therapy they will learn exercises and tricks that will help them control pain and not get disturbed by it.

For people suffering from osteoporosis, or arthritis, they will experience inflammation in the joints. This would lead to pain and discomfort. By guiding them and teaching them a few exercises they could do as they wake up, their days will be better and brighter.

3. Psychological
Conditioning the human mind is said to help us all get through anything. So counseling and guidance provided to help the person control their mind will help them get well soon. It will help boost their morale and bring out confidence that they never knew they had. This works best for people with terminal conditions like cancer or brain tumor, who have given up on life.

These three alternatives help to control pain without going the traditional, potentially dangerous route.
