Celadrin is a mixture of esters of natural fatty acids that can be used to reduce inflammation and joint pain caused by conditions such as arthritis. It is formed by the cetylation of bovine tallow oil, and contains the specific fatty acid esters cetyl oleate, cetyl palmitoleate, cetyl palmitate, cetyl myristate and cetyl myristoleate.
Fatty acid esters offer the advantage of being soluble in water and also in fats and oils. This allows them to be used in a variety of circumstances and sites within your body, and introduce effects that would not be possible with oil or water soluble materials alone. These properties contribute the unique effectiveness of Celadrin in the treatment of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions in the body. It is even being looked at currently for possible uses in other inflammatory conditions such as some form of cardiovascular diseases.
Fatty acid esters work in two specific ways. First they provide lubrication to the body cells themselves, and render them more fluid and elastic. They can therefore improve the structure of cell walls enabling them to be repaired and regenerated very rapidly. The fluid between the parts of a joint become more elastic and also has an improved lubricating effect, so that the cushioning effect is enhanced, and the joint less liable to suffer the impact and friction damage than can invoke an immune response and so cause inflammation and swelling.
Secondly, it improves communication between cells so that the cells in the joints can recognize each other and not regard each other as strangers. It is this lack of intercellular communication that causes immune reactions that can led to severe inflammation that only gets worse and worse until anti-inflammatories are used that can exacerbate the situate rather than resolve it. If the root problem is lack of communication, then the ultimate cure is improving the communication between the various cells of the body.
The human immune system is designed to attack and expel any foreign cells or proteins that invade the body. Generally, each cell has an identifying structure that prevents it from being attacked by its own immune system. These cell messengers are normally formed by certain monosaccharides and proteins to produce glycosides that other cells can recognize. If they are not recognized, they will trigger an immune response designed to expel them from the body that leads to inflammation. The inflammation triggers a further immune response, and so on, until you are in a great deal of pain and the affected area is badly swollen.
Celadrin can penetrate cell membranes, that has the result of enhancing cell membrane permeability in general, and hence rapid communication between cells. This enhanced cell-to-cell signaling can reduce the effect of the immune response by stopping the production of prostaglandins, and preventing them from binding to cells and causing inflammation. The prevention of inflammation of damaged tissue can greatly relieve swelling and pain, and also the chain-reaction that inflammation causes.
Celadrin can be effective in reducing swelling and pain within 15 minutes, and is unique, not only in its mechanism, but also in its speed of action. The continuous lubrication it provides not only helps to reduce the initial pain, and to prevent further immune response by improving cell messaging, but also reduces stiffness and swelling, and helps glucosamine to more effectively repair damaged cartilage. Celadrin and glucosamine work synergistically together far more effectively that either separately. Together, they can repair damage, cushion the joint from further damage and begin to rebuild the whole joint.
What that means in practice is that pain and swelling are reduced very rapidly, and the immune response that increases the levels of inflammation and pain is repressed through improved communication between cells. Your joints will start the healing process fairly quickly after starting treatment, and will be accelerated by the use of chondroitin sulfate side by side with the Celadrin. The discovery of this synergistic effect is a bonus that has amplified the potential benefits of both Celadrin and chondroitin.
This is effective with all types of arthritis that cause inflammation. In fact, it is not only joint inflammation that Celadrin is effective in reducing, but other types as well. The effects of psoriasis, for example, include skin inflammation caused by the overproduction of skin cells, and this can be reduced by the application of Celadrin cream. In fact, if the fatty acid esters operate using the mechanism that is believed to be used, then they should be effective with any type of medical inflammation that is caused by lack of cell communication and the human immune system.
Its effect on C-reactive protein is of particular interest. This particular protein, discovered in the 1930s, appears in the blood plasma in cases of widespread inflammation, and can be indicative of atherosclerosis. It is considered by many to be a risk factor for coronary heart disease, and Celadrin is being studied to determine if it can be used to reduce C-reactive protein levels in the blood. However, it is not clear if the protein is created by the condition or vice-versa.
Most clinical tests carried out on Celdarin have been concentrated on its effect on osteoarthritis, and they have indicated it to be a good alternative to non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAD) such as aspirin and ibuprofen. It has no known side effects, unlike NSADs that can damage the gastrointestinal tract. Also, unlike other alternatives to NSADs, it acts almost immediately.
Celadrin has the support of most doctors, and it has undergone a significant amount of research. Your doctor will be more than willing to discuss it with you if you feel that it might help you, since most are aware of the undesirable side-effects of the more common NSADs. Although it is still under investigation for some potential applications, no side effects have been noted in any of the trials carried out to date. However, it is probably a wise precaution not to use it on children under two years of age.
If you intend giving Celadrin a try, the standard dosage is 1000 mg (or 1 gram) a day. If you are suffering from a painful arthritic condition or any other inflammatory condition at all, then it is worth giving it a try.
