Herpes - The Most Significant Symptom.
The herpes simplex virus causes outbreaks on the skin. Although there are many different types of herpes, they all cause outbreaks or lesions unique to that particular strain.
The herpes family is dominated by two strains in the main. First is the HSV 1 strain that affects the mouth both inside and out.
Spreading Genital Herpes
The other dominant member of the herpes family is the herpes simplex 2 virus which is also referred to as HSV 2. It is this herpes family member that and affects the genitalia as well as the buttocks and lower back. We will be discussing the type of eruptions this virus causes in greater detail a little further on.
Take note of the fact that although HSV 1 causes mainly herpes of the mouth, it can also easily be spread to the genitals through oral sexual activity. It is highly transmittable although it is actually a milder member of the herpes family of viruses.
The blisters or sores that sometimes appear in and around the mouth when one is getting a cold or flu are typical of HSV 1. This is referred to as oral herpes.
Herpes simplex 2 is the most commonly talked about form of herpes. This strain is passed through some form of sexual intercourse. The lesions that occur from this strain are similar to cold sores; The herpes virus that causes genital herpes is the virus that raises most concern. HSV 2 causes lesions and blisters on the genitalia and surrounding pubic areas including the buttocks and the anus.
Genital herpes (the blisters) in males will breakthrough on the shaft of the penis, the anus, the buttocks and even on the inner thighs and lower back. Woman will see the eruptions appearing over the whole of the pubic area, including the anus and buttocks. Sometimes the outbreak is that mild that a torch or flashlight is used during the examination.
So what do herpes sores look like? Sometimes herpes simply manifests as reddening of the affected area. It is popssible that you could also feel feverish and even have some flu like aches and pains. A discharge from the penis or vagina may also occur.
Those first outbreaks of herpes are usually more severe, and generally involve flu-like symptoms and swollen glands for a week or so. Following outbreaks tend to be periodic and only occur about five times a year. These herpes outbreaks can also be brought on the stress level of the infected person. The outbreak may also be elongated due to depression.

I've had herpes now for about 4 years and I believe
I contracted it from my boyfriend. I was with him for the four years and no one else and yet never had any signs in those four years. I've always wondered if he was unfaithful to me yet he either had no symptoms or didn't want to tell me. He has always denyed having anything wrong with him and even says there is nothing wrong with me although I had blood tests to confirm that I did have it. He never had any blood tests. What I am wondering is how long you can have this horrible disease before it rears its ugly head or can stay dormant(excuse the pun)before it surfaces????????? Is it possible he had it for a long time yet never showed any signs??????
For me its a horrendous disease as its like a bear in the cave ...just never knowing when it will decide to come out....depending on stress which is almost every day for me...because how can you avoid life or stress?????? TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE....... Please help someone!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an orange cat that i have had since he was ...
By: Terri | 16-08-2008
I have an orange cat that i have had since he was a kitten (his mother was a pregnant stray that came to me through my work). He is 5 years old now. He has recently developed what looks to me to be ulcerations on the inside of his upper lip, which seem to affect his ability to eat the dry food that I have always fed my cats. He is willing to eat the dry, but he scoops it up with his lower lip, and spills it all over the place, and I think it might hurt him. When I give wet food as a treat to my cats, he is very aggressive, and snorks up as much as he can, as fast as he can. I have a lot of cats (10), as I am a person who can never turn away a stray, but I also work in a low-paying job and am asking if anyone can advise me on a cheaper solution than going to the vet (they seem to be like the human medical doctors these days: into an expensive "system" of pet care, one which I can't afford). I live in a somewhat rural part of Georgia, and people seem to be putting out their pets right and left. I have had two kittens come to my house in the past month.

Transmission of oral HSV2 to someone who already has genital HSV2
By: Curious | 15-07-2008
I have HSV2 both orally and genitally. My oral outbreaks are quite frequent, even while taking 500mg x 2 of Valtrex. If my partner has HSV2 genitally, but not orally, can I transmit oral HSV2 to him from kissing, even though he has the antibodies against HSV2?

I am worried I have herpes
By: wondering | 29-05-2008
I am worried I have herpes. I had sex with a condom 7 weeks ago. About 1-2 weeks later a group of pimple like bumps started to form on the base of my penis. 13 total. They did not itch or cause any pain. 3 weeks afterwards, i came down with the flu. 4 weeks later, the bumps started to go down. They seemed like they were filled with fluid but they did not itch or burst at all. 5 weeks later i went to see a medic who said i have nothing to worry about because if they were herpes, they would itch cause pain and would have bursted open by now. So now 7 weeks later. the bumps have gone down significantly but they are still quite visible and have not completely gone away. They are quite small now, skin colored, but some seem to be filled with clear liquid or puss? I've been reading about the symptoms for herpes and they state that they would go away after about 2-3 weeks. this being the 7th week, i'm am getting worried. If they are not herpes, what are they?
