In this article Jonathon Blocker writes about Viztek.
When it comes to Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS), one of the leading names in the industry is Viztek. PACS from this manufacturer provide greater value and reliability, all while extending digital imaging capability to any standard web browser. The Viztek PACS allows a wide range of medical images to be viewed by any authorized physician anywhere in the world in real time.
About DICOM PACS
DICOM PACS are two different things, but are intimately connected. “DICOM” (Digital Imaging and COmmunication in Medicine) is an image file format, not unlike .jpg, .gif or .png; it has however been developed specifically for the medical profession. DICOM images can contain additional information about the patient and requires a special software application, known as a “DICOM viewer,” in order to be viewed in a web browser. Increasingly, the medical profession is turning to DICOM.
PACS refers to any hardware, such as computers and servers, that are used for the archiving of these images. Not all of these are necessarily DICOM; PACS can store a number of file formats just like any hard drive, but DICOM is the most common.
About Viztek
The Viztek company is a subsidiary of 20/20 Healthcare, Inc. and has been providing imaging solutions to the medical profession since 1999. The Viztek PACS provides ready connectivity with a wide range of functions; meanwhile, low pricing on these and other Viztek products makes it possible for virtually any clinic or private practice to benefit from the utility of the Viztek PACS.
More on Viztek PACS
The Opal-RAD Web Server is one of the most powerful Viztek PACS solutions, and features total physician control as well as 128-bit encryption and numerous image editing options. In addition, the Viztek PACS comes with full, unlimited technical support.
