Food to Avoid with Acid Reflux is very important. Maximum care should be taken about what we eat. It is very important to eat the right food always. But today people are seen eating what they feel like whether it is good for health or not. Especially if the people are suffering from any health problem then they should know what they are eating and if it will cause any further complications to their health. Patients who require keeping their diet limited and specific should not over eat or over feed themselves. Acid reflux is one of such disease which requires people to be more conscious about what they eat. Acid reflux is mainly a digestive problem. There is certain food to avoid with acid reflux.

Food to avoid with acid reflux:
A small step towards being conscious can improve the health. Foods which raise the acid levels should be avoided. These need to be avoided but can be consumed in small quantities. Food and juices which contain citrus should not be taken in much quantity as the acid in it may raise the chances of the reflux to increase. Chocolate, caffeine, hot spicy and oily food needs to be avoided. Cold drinks, soda drinks should be avoided.

But before we start following this diet it important to know what acid reflux is.
About acid reflux:
Acid Reflux is a disease which is caused due to backward traveling of the stomach contents. The esophagus becomes weak thus allowing the stomach acid to move towards the throat. This is a result of weak function of the flap covering the esophagus. The acid from the stomach damages the lining of the esophagus.

Who can suffer from acid reflux?
People who over eat, smokers, non-exercising people, pregnant women, small children, new born babies can suffer from this reflux. However it can be reduced by avoiding some food and with proper consultation of a doctor.

Treatments for acid reflux:
Cures such as medicines, herbal and natural cures can treat acid reflux. Special pillows and surgeries have also been introduced. Medicines are strong and may prove harmful for one's health. Herbal and natural cures along with avoiding some food are the widest choice of the patients suffering from reflux.

Care to be taken:
As this reflux is mainly a digestive it can be reduced by avoiding some food and with simple changes in the life style.
Avoid over eating: People habitually tend to over eat when they sit on the table. This should be avoided.

Eat in intervals: Eating regular small meals would help keep the digestion process uniform.

Wash out the impurities: Drinking a glass of water Luke warm water will help the digestion light. It is also advisable to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day to flush out the impurities from the body.

Proper food habits along with exercise will help reduce the reflux.

Smoking/ drinking alcohol: Smokers are tending to suffer from this because of low diet capacity. Drinking alcohol should also be avoided with the food.

Regular exercise:
Exercising regular will also help keep all health problems in control. So it is very important to exercise regularly to maintain a good health.
