There are many things you can do to help control the problem you might be having with mouth odor, and some are more effective than others. The key to improving your breath condition is to first determine the underlying cause of your bad breath. Only then will you be able to apply the right solution to treat your condition.

The best person to seek advice is your dentist. Only your dentist can be sure of exactly what is causing your own problem, but before your appointment, consider these top 5 ways of treating your bad breath condition. Who knows, you may be able to address your problem before even setting foot in the office of your dentist!

Method #1
The most effective method of treating your breath condition is to be concerned about your overall oral health. Always brush and floss every day, after every meal, or at least twice per day. That will remove some of the food stuff that is stuck in your mouth. Rinse with a mouthwash or rinse as it will help get to the bacteria between your teeth. Use a tongue scraper to top it off as most of the bacteria in your mouth can be found on your tongue.

Method #2
The second method of eliminating your breath odor is not so much about what you do as it is about what you avoid. Many foods cause lingering mouth odors, including the obvious choices of garlic, onions, peppers, coffee, and so on. If you must indulge, be sure to brush and rinse right after.

Method #3
It is a good idea to keep your mouth hydrated at all times, as dry mouth can cause smelly breath. Drink plenty of water. If you need to, use sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva, which not only keeps your mouth moist but also helps to rinse away bacteria and germs that cause bad breath.

Method #4
If you are a smoker, stop smoking! Smoking does so much harm to your body that it can not even be discussed in this short article. It especially does damage to the tissue inside your mouth, and when this tissue is dying and decaying, bad breath results. If you must smoke, use toothpastes and mouthwashes meant for smokers, which are typically stronger than most and eliminate many odors. Do note, however, that your mouthwash must not contain alcohol as it will only dry your mouth further.

Method #5
Alcohol is one of the biggest drying agents of your mouth and causes foul breath once you stop drinking. When you have a few beers or a glass of wine, be sure to brush and rinse with mouthwash right after. If this is not possible, have lots of water in order to rinse the alcohol out of your mouth and hydrate your gums and teeth.

These are the top 5 ways to treat your bad breath condition. Put them into practice and you will be surprise with what you can do to your breath condition.
