Losing hair is a natural part of life. The resting phase for hair is the period of 2-3 months, after which the hair falls out and makes way for new ones. Medications that are notorious for their role in hair loss are: antidepressants, birth control pills, blood thinners, excessive vitamin A, gout medication and chemotherapy.

Infection with fungus is also a cause of losing ones hair. There are diseases as well that have a wide role in hair falling, like some autoimmune diseases, diabetes, lupus and of course the stress. But these diseases can be treated effectively by proper medication and thus resulting hair loss can also be reversed.

Even if the reason behind hair loss is hereditary, you can do a lot to control it completely or at least partially. When having your hair styled only use professionals and use reliable products only. You should always avoid aggrevating the hair follicles, which is a big cause of excessive loss of hair, by avoiding treatment with hot oils, permed or colored. You should also give attention to your hair style as cornrows, hair rollers or ponytails could do a lot of damage to your hair by stretching and pulling.

Analysis of blood sample could also be performed to ascertain the cause.
