Unexplained Infertility - Learn the Facts

Unexplained infertility still remains a common problem despite of all the latest advancements in the field of medical science and technology. There are many couples that have failed to produce a child and the cause of infertility goes unexplained. Despite all the tests and diagnosis there are certain cases of infertility that have no particular reason.

Surprisingly the number of reported cases of unexplained infertility is quite high. The number works out to be 15% of couples reported to be infertile are cases of unexplained infertility. To be more precise, there isn't any medical or physical reason whatsoever for which the couple has failed to conceive. In fact, this is an alarming sign for most couples and this actually makes it even more important to develop a proper understanding of the condition.

Not all cases of infertility are unexplained infertility actually. It is only after performing some of the routine tests and other special examinations that a man or a woman can be diagnosed as infertile. However, if all the reports are fine and there isn't any medical evidence to support the cause of the condition, it is actually a case that goes unexplained.

What Could Be The Causes Of Unexplained Infertility?

There could be many probable causes of unexplained infertility including increased levels of stress, thyroid, gluten intolerance, food allergies, insulin resistance, nutritional deficiencies, excessive exercise, and overabundance of toxins in the system or improper sexual habits. Hereditary factors are also believed to be responsible for infertility in some cases; particularly the abnormality of chromosome could be a serious obstruction for pregnancy. As all the tests are not conducted to diagnose infertility, it is often termed as 'unexplained' when there could be some possible explanations of these factors were taken into consideration.

Multiple factors could cause infertility and it is best to go through all the tests before concluding anything. As it is very easy to term infertility as 'unexplained' most medical professionals take the pleasure of doing the same. Instead, if the patient insists on some more tests from time to time, the main cause could be identified and treated.

In case of unexplained infertility people must show patience, as it is the only weapon they have. Dealing with this problem is a problem in itself, but you must face it. Sometimes making certain dietary changes and lifestyle modifications can help in dealing with the condition, while in some other cases it might take medicines and therapies as well. Overall, it takes approximately 6 moths to 1 year and consecutive tests to determine unexplained infertility. Nonetheless, there aren't any concrete solutions to unexplained infertility and science is yet to understand the condition properly.

There are 3 different tests that couples can undergo when they are diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Good chances are that these tests might actually give you some hint about your condition.

•A review of the medical history to check whether or not the couple has any disease that could lead to infertility.

•Semen analysis is done to check if the male partner is having normal sperm count required for reproduction.

•Identifying any blockage of the fallopian tubes through hysterosalpingogram.

What it all boils down to is this. You and your partner have had the entire battery of tests and neither of you is deemed to be medically infertile. The mystery is why you can't get pregnant.

I will share a personal story with you in an attempt to give you hope. My wife and I had been married for over six years and she was still on birth control pills. She had just graduated from getting her second degree and had just resigned from her job to pursue a teaching career. We were on vacation and in no way were we attempting to have a child and bang, she got pregnant. After her first pregnancy she never went back to using birth control and it took an additional six years before we had our second child. We had gone through all of the infertility test and the doctor could not find a medical reason for either of us to be infertile. We had just given into the fact that God had only wanted us to have one child when she became pregnant with our son.

I tell you this story to encourage you to keep trying. If there is not a medical reason for your infertility then what is meant to be will happen in the right timing.
